Swim Families! Happy 4th of July. Please, can we commit to assigning a Water Watcher this weekend, and always? The concept is simple. Dedicate a specific spot near the water (in the shade) and provide water, sunscreen, a whistle, a red ball cap, a thick floating tube, and a water-watcher lanyard. NO PHONES! Make a sign-up sheet, and let each responsible adult take a 20-minute turn. You are literally watching the water, and anytime a young or inexperienced swimmer wanders by, redirect them to find their parent so that the parent can swim, play, and have so much fun with them. I believe swimmers love the water so much and will do almost anything to gain access. Take your setup to the beach house, the campsite, the backyard pool, take a turn, and have a meditative time watching the water's calming effects. Sometimes, it seems that the more adults are around, the more likely someone else is watching the swimmer. I have a few extra lanyards if anyone needs one. Please commit to and have a fantastic weekend celebrating 250 years of this wonderful home we call America. I love you all. .
