Third and final part of my postpartum doula origin story!
I put a lot of time into caring for myself, building a solid support system, and doing the work to get better. I was privileged to have the time and ability to do so.
Most of our Postpartum struggles are a cultural issue. I'm working to both help change that culture as well as support families going through postpartum and the matrescence growth spurt 🧡
So, is this a superhero or super villain story?
You get to decide, but from where I am sitting, I'd say both: super hero for postpartum support and villain of the patriarchy 😈

Slow reveal of the poster continued...
Women go through a huge transformational development stage after becoming a mom, no matter how they become a mom.
You get caught up in putting so much care into your children, because they demand a lot, and you forget about the things you used to do for fun. You don't think about what you would like to do; you just do what you believe is best for your family, and there is little- no time left.
That's why we are offering this space to slow down and give yourself attention. You deserve to honor this mom you are becoming and get to know her better.

I am SO excited about this offering!
Just because something is natural doesn't mean people don't need support!
This is true for both giving birth and lactation.
I think our culture sees those things as natural and that women can be smiling after this huge physical event of birth and mistake that as being just "fine".
We have decided as a culture that women don't need support. They've got this. They are strong.
It is true that women are strong AND they need support: in helping heal and recover from birth, regaining strength in a healthy way, lactating, parenting, their mental health, reminding them of who they are, and more.
Women are strong and need support 🧡
