Going Forward

Next year we will be running caravans and tailgating at all Nebraska away games starting at – Minnesota (Aug 31st), Colorado (Sept 9th), Illinois (Oct 7th), Michigan State (Nov 4th) and Wisconsin (Nov 18th). Anyone is welcome to participate. I will post details a few weeks before each game so just reach out if you want to join us. My only requests are that you have fun and enjoy yourself, are respectful to everyone we come across and finally and most importantly, make memories that last a lifetime. An easy and small price to pay. Oh and make sure you get out a nice tall pair of party boots, because the s**t will get pretty deep pretty quick (as you can tell from the Iowa game pictures).

After each game I will post a recap of the event. I will also share the Nebraska Shucks word proudly everywhere I go/travel and will be posting those updates throughout the year. Spread the word to this Facebook site (all friend requests welcome), my Nebraska Shucks Facebook business page (all followers welcome), and the website for anyone who would like to order any product.

Life is not meant to be lived from your family room couch, especially for watching college football. Looking forward to seeing some of you join us next year and here’s to enjoying a “shuckin” great time!

Initial Kick-off and Product Launch

This past Friday marked the Nebraska Shucks kick-off and launch at the Nebraska vs. Iowa football game in Iowa City, Iowa. The event was a huge success! Not only did we sell or distribute all 200 pieces of clothing and merchandise we brought, but more importantly, we had a great time and made a ton of new friends. We shared a lot of fun stories, numerous laughs, and put back a few, well a lot of beers/drinks. Fans literally were jumping out of their cars and ran over to take pictures with us. Even some lighthearted Nebraska fans gave us tickets 39 rows up at the 45-yard line! How cool is that!

Hats off to Aaron who has two kids playing major league baseball; Josh and Kara, who just got married the week before and were attending as husband and wife for the first time; Greg the dentist who has been tailgating for 35 years and is retiring at the end of this year; and the group of senior kids in overalls who will be embarking out into the real world soon. Heck, I heard they even got up on the big screen during the game! Total awesomeness all around.

How Nebraska Shucks got started:

Growing up in Missouri and being a die-hard Mizzou fan, I don’t think an explanation is needed about why I have such disdain for the Nebraska Cornhuskers (as with many others in the state – well deserved though). As such, it has not broken my heart watching them flounder these last several years since departing the Big 12 for the Big 10. The carousel of coaching changes, the QB controversies and the so-called regular “bad” calls costing them recent games that used to go their way, brings a smile to my face and so much joy now in my life.

Earlier this year, I was in Omaha with my brother Kenny watching the Nebraska-Oklahoma football game. Needless to say the Sooners were putting a whooping on the Cornhuskers and my brother threw down the remote and said “man we suck”. I turned to him and calmly said “Kenny, this is Nebraska, you actually shuck!”. We looked at each other and knew what needed to be done.

Instantly that’s how Nebraska Shucks was formed. In a few short weeks, I submitted a trademark application for the phrase and designed an online store and drop shipping company (www.nebraskashucks.com) that allows anyone to purchase clothing (t-shirts, sweaters, and hoodies) and merchandise (such as coffee mugs) in ALL of Nebraska’s opposing team colors. Red/white is actually for Wisconsin and Rutgers but unhappy Nebraska fans can buy in that color too (even though Cream is their actual color that they don't even use)!
