Congratulations to Henry Smith on an outstanding performance at the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon - Half Marathon, placing 7th overall! ๐Ÿ‘

To see a high school athlete step up and place 7th overall in a half marathon is incredibly impressive.

I'm excited to have him join a great roster of athletes in our summer cross country running program as we begin preparing for the upcoming season. It's going to be a great summer of training, growth, and opportunity.

Congratulations to Kasey Van Zee on completing her first half marathon today at the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon - Half Marathon! ๐ŸŽ‰

As a former 400m hurdler at Augustana University, it's been incredible to watch her transition from the track to longer distances. Proud of you, Kasey. First half marathon in the books, and this is just the beginning! Also, congratulations to your crew!

Incredible morning for a long run with this crew - my athletes. A lot of miles, great conversations, as we supported Ryan Hoffman and Logan Anderson in completing their final long run before the Grandmaโ€™s Marathon.

Just like that, 8 weeks of Sioux Falls Women Run Spring Track has come to an end. What an incredible group of women who continued to step outside their comfort zones, challenge themselves, and show up week after week.

Iโ€™m truly grateful for the opportunity to work with such an amazing group. Watching the growth, confidence, and community built throughout these 8 weeks has been special. Proud of you all and excited for whatโ€™s ahead. ๐Ÿ‘

Sometimes in the marathon, you can do all the right things in training, prepare with discipline, sacrifice, and commitment, and still have race day throw something different your way. That was the reality at the Fargo Marathon today. The conditions were far from ideal, but Karissa showed up, gave it everything she had, and kept fighting through every challenge the day presented.

Thatโ€™s what great athletes do. They keep showing up. They respond when things donโ€™t go according to plan. While the outcome was not what we were hoping for, there is still so much to be proud of. Marathons require many things to align, and weather is one thing no one can control. What you can control is your attitude, your effort, and your response, and Karissa responded with toughness, perseverance, and character. Today was about growth, learning, and another chapter in the journey. Proud of you, Karissa. The setbacks will continue to build the strength needed for the next breakthrough. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅ

Shoutout to Emily Olson for showing up and getting the Fargo Half Marathon done today. ๐Ÿ‘

Training hasnโ€™t been perfect, and there have been plenty of ups and downs along the way with some nagging injuries and setbacks. But despite all of that, she continued to show up, adjust, and do what she could with where she was at.

Best of luck to senior Dylan Gerdes from Madison High School as he takes on the South Dakota State Track & Field Championships this week! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Dylan will be competing in the 3200m, 1600m, and relays as he closes out an outstanding high school running career before continuing his academic and athletic journey this fall at the University of Minnesota Duluth. ๐Ÿ…

Over the years, Dylan has been an incredible leader within our program and someone who has consistently set the standard through his discipline, work ethic, consistency, and commitment to improvement. Heโ€™s the type of athlete who shows up every day ready to work, compete, and lead by example.

It has been a privilege to watch Dylan continue to grow both on and off the track, and we are excited to see him compete one more time on the state stage representing Madison High School. Proud of you, Dylan, and excited for everything ahead. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅ
