Proud creator of the CRT Belt🔥 Dominate the zone!

Watching Ali Sánchez (current SL leader) here, notice how consistent his glove finishes are at both the bottom and the top of the zone.

They're not forced. They're not robotic. They're just repeatable.

The move is fluid, vertical, and he kills the move in a position that gives him a chance to win pitches all around the zone. The important part?

This isn't about trying to catch exactly like Ali, or other Big Leaguers. It's about identifying what makes you successful and refining it until it becomes consistent.

None of it matters if you're not on time. Good glove actions start with being on time. Err on the side of late and then adjust. Once you're there, your individual style can show up.

Fine tune what makes you, you.

Been a while, good to be back.

Short topic for today:

Late setup. On time to the pitch.

Don’t give anything to the other team. Be where your pitcher needs you to be, when you need to be there.

Are you late enough that it doesn’t provide information, but still on time to get your move off?

Little things that go a long way💥

Season is rolling👊🏻

Double Catch Receptions2️⃣

Helps with pocket presence, glove actions, and general adjustability to the pitch. Promotes efficiently overall while controlling the pocket.

Mix your stances, and paddle/catch and drop one ball, reset into your pre-pitch, and immediately receive and present a second pitch.

Can be done with 2, 3, 4+ pitch patterns. Challenge yourself to see how good you can be with your pocket and control⚡️

Poetry in Motion🖋️

Cal Raleigh — 5th in the league in framing runs (7, via Baseball Savant) doing most of his work at the top of the zone (5, TOZ).

Bigger frame with a pre-pitch built to cover the zone — lends itself to adjusting upward. There’s an argument to be made for further maximizing value at the BOZ (-3) but global results are overwhelmingly positive.

No wasted movement. No panic. Just rhythm. Dominating what works for him.

What’s your takeaway here?

And 60 homers to boot💣 Do that, too.

Walk Up Drill🚶

Tried and true. Start a few steps back from your partner or machine and work your way in. Each rep, take a step closer and keep the same glove control, pocket accuracy, and tempo.

As the distance closes, the pressure and reaction time ramp up — that’s the point. Stay clean, stay strong through the pocket, and make it loud when you catch it.

Even if not executing a move, find the pocket. The pocket lends itself to control of the ball. Use it.

Incorporate softer or light-flight balls so you can move freely and push your limits without fear. Mix up your stances, adjust tempo, and compete with yourself to see how close you can get while staying under control.

Minimize catching the ball with you face.
