On Saturday I had the privilege of hosting my 5th Socorro Chile Harvest Triathlon as Race Director.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Chile Harvest Triathlon, making it one of the oldest continuously running triathlons in New Mexico and the Southwest.

The race is fortunate to carry so much institutional knowledge. From volunteers to past race directors, many people have dedicated 5, 10, even 20+ years to making this event what it is today. Every year it’s amazing to see the community come together to make it happen.

The Chile Harvest Triathlon is also what I hope the Socorro Trail Running Series grows into one day, a community tradition that lasts for decades.

Today we wanted to give a shoutout and big congratulations to our very own Elizabeth M Sponagle for a spectacular 2025 Triathlon season! She received her Team USA certificates recognizing her 2025 accomplishments just the other day, and let's just say she received a LOT of them! 😎💪

For starters, Liz WON the USA Triathlon New Mexico Sprint Distance State Championships at the Socorro Chile Harvest Triathlon in the women's 70-74 age group. Not only that, but her rankings as a result of her high finishes at both the CIty of Lakes Triathlon and Last Call Triathlon in Colorado placed her as a USAT All-American! This prestigious award ranks her against triathletes the entire nation over.

Congratulations Liz for a truly national class 2025!!

We're celebrating 25 years in business this year, and Liz has been a mainstay here at the Hub since nearly the beginning. She's also been a mainstay in racing since well before that. Keep up the good work Liz, and keep those titles rolling in!!

We want to thank everyone who makes the Chile Harvest Triathlon possible year after year.

From our incredible volunteers—many of whom carry more than a decade of institutional knowledge to our partners and sponsors who help us deliver a truly professional event, we couldn’t do it without you.
