Tis the season for Minja Stars.

[12/14/20]   Prayers for two of our students. Sensei KC Latham has tested positive for Covid. He is recovering at home. Prayers for not only him but Paige and Rex as well. Also pray for Brian Necessary and his mom, they have both tested positive. She was already battling other serious health issues.

For years we have been asked to offer a separate tai chi class. Sending out feelers to see what the interest level is. We will be having an introductory meeting next week. Please let me know in the comments if you are interested; space will be limited.

What is tai chi?

Tai chi is often described as "meditation in motion," but it might well be called "medication in motion." This gentle form of exercise can help maintain strength, flexibility, and balance, and can be the perfect activity for the rest of your life. It embodies our school motto: Live Younger, Longer. We will also teach the fighting applications to the form, opening the door for martial arts training for many who thought they couldn't do it.

Studies have shown that Tai Chi produces the following health benefits:

Decreased stress, anxiety and depression.
Improved mood.
Improved aerobic capacity.
Increased energy and stamina.
Improved flexibility, balance and agility.
Improved muscle strength and definition.

Details: 30 minute class, once a week that will involve stretching, meditation, and tai chi instruction.


Do Hard Things Today

This is Jim Thorpe. Look closely at the photo, you can see that he's wearing different socks and shoes. This wasn't a fashion statement. It was the 1912 Olympics, and Jim, an American Indian from Oklahoma represented the U.S. in track and field. On the morning of his competitions, his shoes were stolen. Luckily, Jim ended up finding two shoes in a garbage can. That's the pair that he's wearing in the photo. But one of the shoes was too big, so he had to wear an extra sock. Wearing these shoes, Jim won two gold medals that day. This is a perfect reminder that you don't have to resign to the excuses that have held you back. So what if life hasn't been fair? What are you going to do about it today? Whatever you woke up with this morning; stolen shoes, ill health, failed relationships, failed business, don't let it stop you from running your race. You can experience more in life if you'll get over the excuses and get on with living. You can have reasons or you can have results...but you can't have both.



Had a blast at our socially distanced Mulan cookout last night with some of our students. Awesome film. We finished the night with a treat - BBQ dusted crickets!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Grandmaster Sin Thé has decided to make both of his seminars in September available via Zoom for those who cannot attend the in-person versions on Saturday, September 19th in Lexington.

The following day, Sunday, September 20th, Grandmaster Sin will hold two separate Zoom sessions for those who want to attend virtually.

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM — Mulan's Long Tassel Sword
2:30 PM - 5:30 PM — Walking Chi Kung - Level 3
The online versions of the seminars will be available to everyone who signs up. You can attend either in person, online, or both! We will email the Zoom link and information to everyone who registers for the seminars sometime during the week prior to the them.


Century Martial Arts hooked me up with a mask grab bag prize from their Virtual Summer sessions at the Martial Arts Super Show this year. Wasn’t expecting the face shields; these are very high quality, reinforced with fabric on the sides. Awesome cloth masks as well and they even threw in a box of paper masks.
