One of our fencers Jack Horan wrote this cool blog post on what we can learn from medieval British history through poetry and archeology.

https://medievaling.com/true-kinsmen-lost-death-and-honour-in-the-british-heroic-age/

"King Arthur is one of the most pervasive myths in medieval history. Popularised by romances like Le Morte D’Arthur by Thomas Malory, the High Medieval Arthur lived in a world of castles and chivalry. But the myths go back far earlier, to a world far different from that of Mallory. They depict a Britain standing in the shadow of Rome, a time of instability and war. Little remains of the British Heroic Age, but through poetry and archaeology, we can get a glimpse into the world that made the legend of Arthur."

Yesterday we ran our first in-house coaching clinic.

We had a range of folks show up, from our experienced coaching staff to brand new coaches in training.

Folks learned how to give a lesson in the Italian tradition as well as cueing advice and things to look out for.

An exciting new era begins!

Cloaktober continues!

Our rapier team is warming up with some fundamental “core” actions. Here they’re attacking during their partner’s line change while remaining in measure.

A bold attack that’s aided by the target denial and defense the cloak provides.

Ready to learn the art of the duel with the iconic rapier?

This class is perfect for anyone looking to live out their Musketeer or swashbuckling fantasies! It's also a great way to get some exercise that works both your mind and body. Learn how to move and swordfight, and have fun doing it! No prior fencing experience is necessary!

This is a free introduction/crash course for new fencers interested in Italian rapier fencing through Boston Academie d'Armes.

Fencers who complete the introduction class will be able to join the Beginner Rapier class at the same time and place.

Congrats to Rose and Jack for passing their rapier assessments! They now officially qualify for our intermediate rapier class.

Rose and Jack were tested on fencing theory, technical skills, simple coaching cues, and a fight assessment (technical and tactical).

We are super proud of their improvement since they joined us and look forward to the next chapter of their fencing adventure.

A 7 count salute for Rose and Jack!
