Message from Velo Promo about Oakland Grand Prix, also VOLUNTEER MARSHALS are needed!

Still no decision on the last race of the day at Oakland Grand Prix tomorrow. All but three 1/2/3P (men) riders have responded saying yes to moving the 1/2/3P race one hour earlier, to 2:25, but we can't make that for sure until we hear from the last 3. The issue is only one Women 1/2/3 has entered, and she has agreed to ride earlier in the day, with the Women 3/4/5. So we have no one in the Wm 1/2/3 slot at 2:20, and are trying to get to all the 1/2/3/Pro (men) riders to move earlier. Please let everyone you know that might be entering day-of that the race MIGHT be one hour earlier. More later today on a final decision.

Another issue (and more importantly?) We are still way short of the number of volunteer marshals needed to make this a safe race. If you can help out for part of the day, please sign up at: OGP Volunteers. Please tell your friends and relations.

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of long time USA Cycling race official Mike Hardaway. Mike had a heart attack at his home as he prepared to come to moto officiate Regalado Road Race on Friday, and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away today with family in attendance. Mike has touched many of us in the officiating and NCNCA Community, as well as many racers with his mentorship and knowledge of competitive cycling. He has served many years on the NCNCA Official’s Committee and was an experienced Motor Referee and Chief Referee, working both local and national events. Mike also served on the NCNCA Board for many years. In his professional life he was a Marine fighter pilot, flying the F4 Phantom, an engineer, an attorney, and other roles too numerous to mention. Thank you Mike for your dedication to the NCNCA and to the love of bike racing.

Today, August 27th is the LAST day to sign up for Calaveras Time Trial on Sunday, August 20th by Team Fremont. Time Trials are PRE-REG ONLY on Bike Reg, there is NO Day-Of sign ups for Time Trials! Come and support one of the two stand alone TT races left in the NCNCA. Purse Prize of $1000 split between the 3 Top Fastest Men/Women from ANY category. This is also the NCNCA Junior TT District Championship and part of the NCNCA Juniors Series. Registration in the comment below!

Today is the first day of NCVA Super Districts at Hellyer Velodrome! There is still time to sign up! These are USAC sanctioned championship races but there are also non-championship Cat 4/5 categories to earn Track USAC Upgrade points. Registration like in the comments below.
