Hello everyone! Today is ND Day! For those who have never head of ND Day here is a quick explanation:
Essentially, the day is centered around a pot of "ND Day money." Last year, it was $1 million, and this year it's $1.2 million. On ND Day, each school organization (residence halls, academics organizations, student clubs, athletic teams, etc.) gets the opportunity to steal a slice of the pot by having people vote for their club--the percentage of money earned by the club will be based on the percentage of votes we get overall.
ND day is super important to us as a club because it is where the majority of our fundraising money comes from. Last year the money from ND Day helped our team buy new uniforms, begin our very own collection of goalie gear, and subsidize travel.
Any sort of donation goes a long way. 0.5% (HALF A PERCENT) of the pot this year is $6,000 for our club!!!
$10 = 5 votes!!! And the votes for our club add up fast!
Voting will be open today until Tuesday! Please consider donating anything you can as the club lacrosse team is one of our favorite parts about Notre Dame!!!

Our next player spotlight features Junior Darby O'Grady! Darby is from Philadelphia, PA and is studying finance here at Notre Dame. This summer Darby will be leaving her beloved hometown to intern in New York City! In her free time, one can find Darby painting a masterpiece, purchasing a lottery ticket (has she won yet?), or cheering for the 2018 Super Bowl Champs (boo). On the field, Darby ~lights up~ the defense with her smart, aggressive play. Darby is known for intercepting passes, shutting down any attacker 1v1, and her strong stick stills in the transition. No one can get by Darb with her quick feet and even quicker slides!!! Get em Toasty!!!! Keep doing you Darb, we love love you!!!! 🤩

Up next on our famous player spotlight series is... a combined spotlight of juniors Kaitlyn Brandano and Erin Roche! Kaitlyn and Erin requested that their spotlight be done together because they have "basically morphed into the same person" based on their shared interests and amount of time spend together. Kaitlyn and Erin are both in the College of Engineering studying Chemical Engineering. Off the field, you can catch these enginerds in the library late night finishing up their many problem sets. Kaitlyn will be interning in Boston this summer, while Erin will be interning in Delaware! On the field, Kaitlyn is a strong defender, known for her aggressive 1v1 lock down defense and her quick slides. Erin is a skillful attacker, known for her assists where she ~threads the needle~ finding a cutter in traffic and her sly crease roles for a goal top corner. Shout out to these two for epitomizing what it means to be student 👏athletes 👏!!! We love all that you guys do for this team!!!

Continuing with our player spotlights is junior Kiera Wendel. Kiera is a junior Mechanical Engineering major from Delaware who leads our defense. She also serves as our club treasurer, we trust her with our defense and we trust her with our money too! Kiera is a FORCE on the defensive end, with her strong leadership skills. Off the field, Kiera will be interning at Protiviti in Chicago this summer! Kiera is a key member of our team, and we love the energy and laughs she brings to all events.

This past weekend we hosted a home tournament where we played Purdue and Michigan. We beat Purdue 18-2! Then lost to Michigan 14-8 😕 After both games, we had a little ~celebration~ for our 3 seniors Paige, Kelly, and Molly!!! We’re now playing at the regional playoffs in Detroit, Michigan!

Up next on our ~player spotlight series~ is.... Madelyn Francesconi!! Madelyn is a junior studying environmental engineering and will be interning in her home city of San Francisco this summer with Stryker. Go Mads! Although she only stands at four feet eleven inches, Madelyn is a force on the defensive end of the field. Madelyn is known for her communication, directing the defense on their slides and cutters. Mads is also known for her shut-down, 1v1 defense and quick slides where she makes her HUGE presence felt by opposing teams!!! Unfortunately, Madelyn suffered an ACL tear in the Pittsburgh tournament and will have to sit the rest of the season out 🙁 We miss having you on the field but love having you on the sidelines with us!!! Stay ~huge~ Mads!!!

She likes to throw in a dip and dive around a defender and has been known to break some ankles with her quick feet! Get it moll! Off the field, Molly is a Psychology major and is planning on working in Boston in marketing after graduation. Molly's favorite thing about club lax is the team *awwww*! We will miss all of the hilarious things that come out of her mouth next year, we love you beast!!

Pitt Tournment 03/26/2019

This past weekend, we competed in a tournament at the University of Pittsburgh. We played a hard fought battle against Pitt Saturday morning and lost 15-10. Then, we battled against Penn State Saturday evening and came away with an 11-10 OT victory. Sunday morning, we played a back-and-forth game with University of Delaware and suffered a close 13-10 loss. We were very happy with the effort our team put in this weekend to leave the tournament with a 1-2 record. Attached are photos from our 3 games! Shout out to Mrs. McNeil for the pictures!!
