Today is the day! 🏆

Tonight we officially welcome Woody Bane, Jimmy Clay, Kenneth Day, Nick Long, and Melanie Saunders into the Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame!

We can’t wait to hear their stories, spend some time with them, and celebrate all they have contributed to sports in our community.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the Meet & Greet from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the Induction Ceremony beginning at 7:00 p.m. Come celebrate the Class of 2026 with us!

Tonight, our Class of 2026 inductees were introduced before the Halifax County High School varsity football game. We appreciate our partnership with the HCHS Athletic Department and their help recognizing this special group!

The 2026 Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is this Saturday, September 26, at American Legion Post 8 in South Boston!

We will welcome Woody Bane, Jimmy Clay, Kenneth Day, Nick Long, and Melanie Saunders into the Hall of Fame. The evening will also include special recognition of previous inductees Willie Lanier, Tisha Waller, and Harvey Dillard and their contributions to sports.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the Meet & Greet is from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., and the ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at True Value, the South Boston Halifax County Visitors Center, Peddlers Market, Abbott Farm Suppliers, Fincher’s, or from any Hall of Fame Board Member.

Come celebrate a special evening of Halifax County sports history with us!

Congratulations to Abagail Conner, recipient of the Hall of Fame Legacy Scholarship!

Abagail was a three-sport student-athlete during her high school career, competing in volleyball, softball, and basketball. She is now attending Virginia Tech, where she is continuing her education and beginning an exciting new chapter.

The Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame is proud to support local student-athletes like Abagail as they pursue their goals beyond high school.

Congratulations to Carter Thomasson, recipient of the Jason Parker Family Legacy Scholarship!

Carter was a dedicated member of the baseball program throughout his high school career. He is now attending Ferrum College, where he is continuing his baseball career at the collegiate level.

The Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame is proud to support Carter as he continues his academic and athletic journey.
