“For the past years, I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and have had four hip surgeries over the past 20 years. I’ve always been diligent about doing exercise but focused mainly on pilates, dance, essentrics, tai chi and yoga. All great exercises for posture, mobility, and balance. About 18 months ago I joined Artemis and just happened to have an InBody scan at my doctor which gave me measurements of muscle mass, fat, and weight. After coming to Artemis twice/week for a year, my muscle mass went up 18%! I can see a notable difference in my muscle definition and strength. Not only that, but I thought I was going to need a calcium infusion treatment which luckily I am not going to need right now after all. I am delighted by these changes and can’t advocate enough for the importance of weight training for women, especially as we age. Thank you, Artemis team!" - Georgia D., Shelburne, VT

Don't let the smiles fool you, these ladies are quick to speak up (with humor) if something is off at the gym. Fortunately, Kendra was able to quickly correct the quote of the week to read:

Because isn't it TRUE!?! 💪 There's nothing quite like a friend to motivate you.

"I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Artemis in general, but very aware of the positive impact on my life while on a recent trip to Puerto Rico. My daughter and I went on an INTENSE hike in the rain forest—1.5 hours down in slippery mud and 1.5 hours back-up. I could never have done it without the training from Artemis. I was aware of my body in space and better balance especially on the way down. And going up—1.5 hours of kettlebell step ups (without the kettlebell of course)! I literally was envisioning our training g sessions and thanking Artemis! I felt great afterwards and only had a little calf soreness the next day! So, THANK YOU!!!!!"

It’s never too late to start exercising!
- If you sit in a chair, you squat.
- If you pick up a box, you deadlift.
- If you put something on a shelf, you overhead press.
Don’t let the idea that you have to lift heavy weights intimidate you or keep you from starting. There's a place for everyone!

Exercise for me used to be about getting smaller. NOW in mid life it’s about:
My mental health
Managing perimenopause symptoms
My mood
My metabolic health
My balance and stability
Building a body to grow old in
Maintaining and building bone
My sleep
Being strong
Building muscle

One of the best investments women can make to support their overall health is strength training 2x a week for 30 minutes. It builds muscle, bone density, confidence, determination and a sense of overall well being.
