Due to the ongoing winter storm, all Town of Dennis beaches will be CLOSED for the duration of the storm as a safety precaution.
With significant snowfall forecasted throughout today and tonight, the Dennis Police Department and Beach Department are taking proactive steps to protect public safety.
During previous storms, beach access has led to stranded vehicles and emergency calls, requiring police, DPW, and other emergency personnel to respond. These situations tie up limited resources that are critical during large-scale storm events.
While we understand the desire to enjoy the beauty of our beaches—especially during a snowfall—the safety of the public and our first responders must come first.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Please stay safe, limit travel if possible, and avoid beach areas until conditions improve.

And like that our 2025 season has officially come to an end. It feels like summer goes by just a bit faster each year! We want to thank everyone who visited our beaches this summer and took the time to enjoy the beauty of the Dennis beaches. Most importantly, we want to thank ALL of our staff for your efforts throughout the season! It is because of you we are able to have such a great beach department. We will see you again in 263 days!

This morning at 8:30AM, we received word from Dennis Natural Resources that the final pipping plovers at West Dennis beach had fledged. Immediately, Dennis DPW, and beach staff began to remove the black silt fencing and parking lot barriers from the West Dennis public parking lot. The lot was cleaned and fully open to the public by 11AM. Thank you to Dennis Natural Resources, Dennis DPW, and our West Dennis Beach staff for their quick work today to get the beach back to business as usual!

Name: Tatum
Job: Lifeguard, Northside
Tatum has been a great addition to our staff and has proven herself to be a great guard. She is respected by her peers for being a great friend and a great lifeguard. She also showed out for our civil war lifegaurd competition this past week. She was lightning quick in the water and on land carrying us to a close result. We are very happy of what she has done overall and can’t wait to see what the rest of her lifeguarding career holds.

Name: Katie
Job: Lifeguard, Southside
Katie is our guard of the week! She is a first year lifeguard who has proven to be a great addition to our staff, especially athletically! She has a great attitude and is willing to work wherever needed. We are sad to see her go as she heads back to Furman University where she runs track, but wish her the best of luck there! Thanks for all you’ve done this summer Katie!

Name: Charlie
Job: Gate Attendant, Northside
Our North gate of the week is Charlie, a second-year staff member with the Dennis Beach Department. Charlie is extremely laid-back and takes a no-nonsense approach to the job. You only have to tell him something once and he’s got it. He is extremely versatile and has done a terrific job as the Mayflower opener on many busy mornings. Charlie is popular and well-liked among the staff and gives it his all every shift. Charlie is a recent graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High and is headed to Hood College in the fall, where he will study business and play lacrosse. Glad to have you, Charlie!

Nadia is our gate of the week! A Cape local, this is Nadia’s first summer working for the DBD and we hope she will join us for many more! Nadia worked a busy weekend at West Dennis and handled all situations thrown her way with ease. She is trustworthy and patrons enjoy interacting with her! We thank Nadia for all she’s done this summer!
