We are on for today! I feel like I haven't seen you all in months! I'm excited to see you all today and in some beautiful weather!
We’re back at it! Last week’s run was canceled due to the rain, but this Thursday is looking like perfect running weather. Let’s lace up, show up, and keep building momentum together. Here’s everything you need to know:
This Week’s Meetup

Parking: Large lot by the trailhead
👟 Walking group? Absolutely. If you’re interested in joining the all-walk pace, just comment on this post and I’ll get you connected. We move at all paces - no pressure, just progress.

Come hydrated and dressed for a sunny spring afternoon. I’ll have cold water waiting at the finish line too.
Weekly Tip: Building Endurance
Want to go farther without burning out? Try this:
- Start slow, especially your first 5–10 minutes
- Use the “talk test” You should be able to speak in full sentences
- Try run/walk intervals or simply add 5 extra minutes each week
- Small steps = big gains over time. Your future self will thank you! (The fancy word for small steps in running is Cadence but we will save that term for next weeks term)
Term of the Week: Negative Split
A negative split means finishing your run faster than you started. It’s a pro pacing strategy that helps you finish strong and avoid early burnout.

It’s almost time to lace up again! Starting this week, I’ll be sending out a weekly Run Club updates every Tuesday or Wednesday to:

Reminder: The City of South Euclid now has a walking group for those who want to walk the whole time - message me for more info. But remember we move at a variety of paces. All are welcome here!

Weekly Tip: Pre-Run Stretching
Before you hit the trail, go for dynamic stretches to activate your muscles. A few quick ideas:
- Leg swings
- Walking lunges
- High knees
- Arm circles
Save longer static stretches for after your run/walk to prevent injury and support recovery.
Term of the Week: Cadence
Cadence = how many steps you take per minute. Higher cadence (170–180 steps/min) can help improve running efficiency and reduce injury risk. Don’t worry about counting… apps or music with a set BPM can guide you!

It was HOT and HUMID but we got the thang DONE! Great work run club!
