Today was something special.
For the first time in years, Pop Warner football was back at home in South Lake Tahoe.
I just want to thank every parent, athlete, coach, cheerleader, volunteer, family member, and supporter who helped make today happen. You signed your kids up. You trusted this new program. You showed up. And together, we’re bringing something back to this community that these kids deserve to have.
I couldn’t be prouder of our athletes today.
Our cheer squad came out and represented the Timberwolves with pride. Our 10U battled, competed, and gave us some incredible moments—including getting to watch one of our kids score a touchdown on our home field.
And our 12U team fought.
They held that game at 0-7 all the way into the fourth quarter, until the final few minutes. Yes, we lost, but that scoreboard doesn’t tell the whole story. 0-14.
These kids have only been playing together for a little over a month.
Our defense is coming together. Our offense still has work to do. We have a lot to learn.
But that’s what practice is for.
We’re building this program from the ground up, and today we got our first real taste of what it feels like to be a football family.
Next home game, I want to see those stands FULL.
I want to hear this town get LOUD for these kids.
I want our athletes to look up into those stands and see an entire community behind them.
Of course we want to win. And we’ll get there.
But there are wins happening every single day that don’t show up on a scoreboard. Kids learning positions. Kids gaining confidence. Kids becoming teammates. Kids getting knocked down and getting back up. Kids discovering what they’re capable of.
Those are the wins we’re building on.
We’re going to keep practicing. We’re going to keep coaching. We’re going to keep learning. And we’re going to keep getting better.
Today wasn’t just about football.
Today, Pop Warner was back in South Lake Tahoe.
