On September 15th, 2016, Lorain resident Trooper Kenneth Velez #511 was killed outside of his patrol car in the line of duty after being struck by a vehicle while conducting traffic enforcement on the 90 interstate in Cleveland, OH. Trooper Velez was a 27-year veteran of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Cleveland Post #18 and was just days away from retirement. Kenny was an avid sports fan, a family man, and a fair person in and out of his uniform. In honor of Kenny’s lifetime of service, family and friends decided to organize this MOVE OVER 5k race & 1 mile fun walk. All proceeds will go to the TKV memorial scholarship fund which has been organized by the Lorain County Blue Foundation.
