Last weekend the OSE team went up to Traverse City for the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival! Great rides, great time and of course the greatest horses ❤️

Summer Working Student Opportunity

Looking to gain hands-on experience and spend more time in the saddle this summer?

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Working Student to join our team! This is a great opportunity for riders who want to expand their horsemanship skills while earning show opportunities, lessons, and/or riding time in exchange for work.

Responsibilities include:
Tacking and untacking horses
Cooling out after rides
Bathing and grooming
Post-workout care, including: Icing, Laser treatments, Stretching
Cleaning and organizing tack
Assisting with general horse care and barn duties

Ideal candidate:
✔ Hardworking and dependable
✔ Eager to learn
✔ Comfortable handling horses safely
✔ Interested in developing their riding and horse care knowledge

This position offers valuable experience in horse management, rehabilitation, and performance horse care while earning show opportunities, lessons, and riding time.

Tiny Tot Camp is now open!
Children ages 4–6 will enjoy a fun, hands-on introduction to ponies in our Tiny Tots program! Young riders will learn the basics of horseback riding through guided lessons alongside a Oaken Shield student helper, while also exploring important horse care topics such as safety, grooming, saddling, and daily pony care.
Our ponies are the perfect size for little hands, helping children build confidence as they learn to groom, tack up, and lead their ponies independently. Horse-themed arts and crafts add even more fun and give each child special keepsakes to take home.
Tiny Tots Camp Dates:
• June 29 – July 3
• July 6 – 10
• July 20 – 24
Camp runs Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Cost: $250 per rider, per week.
Tiny Tots is a fun, educational, and confidence-building experience for young horse lovers. Children are welcome to enroll in as many sessions as they’d like!
