Spent the day guiding my favorite client. 21 years of marriage and The Admiral still puts up with this horrific fishing and guiding addiction. She doesn't tip well (unless screaming at me to "slow the heck down!" can be considered a tip), but she's a heckuva caster! No one I'd rather have on the bow!

I'll say it, and my apologies for negativity. But if you're a "flats guide" sending up a drone to locate fish on a charter, you're not a guide. You're an impostor. Learn the tides. Learn the wind. Learn your local flats. Learn bait behavior. Learn fish behavior. Stop cheating for clout. Rant over. Tight lines.

14-year-old Andrew sniped this snappy fish in 2' of water this morning on a 5" paddletail. Fish were plentiful but SUPER picky. Well done Andrew!

Stylish Mikey B from stroudwaterflyfishing and I got do a little fish chasin' with 𝓒𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓑𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓷 𝓚𝓮𝓵𝓵𝔂 last week downda Cape Cod. We were having a great time til Capt. Kelly decided to do a good deed and retrieve the absolute stankiest plastic bag in history out of the water. After we were all done throwing up from the stench, we got back to fishing. Despite Mike's "I'm holding this bonito but I can't wait to get back to my needlepoint" pose, he reports that he had a good time. Fishing with Brian Kelly is a great time and you should do it too. Just demand that he doesn't pick up any trash on your trip.

So much fun being involved in the Bath First Baptist Church Youth Fishing Clinic today! I got the two fishiest young ladies on the planet and they put on a clinic! The absolute BEST thing about being a guide is being invited to get kids involved in fishing!

Fly By Night has been sold. Moving forward, I'll be segueing out of chartering, and doing a very limited number of fly and light tackle trips - mostly on weekends - on my flats boat. For 18 years, offering guided fishing trips has been my obsession, my passion, and - aside from wife and two daughters - the very best thing about my life. It was a dream of an existence. I am forever grateful for the time on the water, the lifelong friendships with other guides, with clients, and with those in the industry who worked so hard to protect the resource and make this job the greatest career in the world. To all of you, thank you. May you all have tight lines, fair winds, and following seas.
