Dear Southington High School Students and Families,
Newtown High School will be using a weapons detection system at the upcoming football game on Friday, September 18, 2026. This will be our second event incorporating the use of the detection system. All students, parents, and fans from both teams will enter through the system.
All three gates will be open at Blue and Gold Stadium, and each will have a detector in use. Only Newtown High School students should enter through the gate closest to the student section (ie - the scoreboard). The main gate and the gate from the lower parking lot will be open for parents and fans of both teams. Gates will open promptly at 5:30 p.m. Students, parents, and fans arriving before 5:30 p.m. will not be permitted to access the stadium. We only accept electronic Go FAN tickets, NO CASH sales https://gofan.co/event/6857538?schoolId=CT20032 . Please note, tailgating, backpacks, open containers or re-entry by students is not allowed.
The lower gate and the student gate will close at 6:45 p.m. All students, parents, and fans arriving after 6:45 p.m. should enter through the main gate at the top of the stadium. The detection system will remain in use at the main gate for the entirety of the game. Anyone who leaves the stadium and wishes to return will need to re-enter through the detection system. Students, parents, and fans are encouraged to remain inside the stadium until they leave the event for the evening.
All parents and fans will pass through the detection system with their bags. This system is the same that you would find at a concert venue, Broadway show or major league sporting event. You will be able to pass through easily with metal water bottles, keys, phones, and medical hardware.
A member of the NHS administrative team and security staff will be present at all three available entrances. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation. We appreciate everyone's support as we continue to work toward making our events and school environment as safe as possible.
