Just Curious…
In the past few days, I have witnessed some very chaotic behavior. 1hour after the storm passed, my son and I ventured out for two reasons. 1) to access the damage to our community and 2) since I live off the beaten path, I wanted to find a clear route to the main roads, 221 and Hwy 9, in the event of an emergency, I need to know how to get out.
Once we got to Hwy 9, it appeared that the whole town of Boiling Springs was out. People seemed to be in a state of panic…Why? People had forgotten how to drive, the rules of the road were non existent, traffic jams , horns blowing , people making their own lanes, even seen two guys fist fighting in the median…Why? Why are you panicking?
There was no power, nothing was open except Qt which had a line for gas a mile long.. people from every direction was trying to get in there. Filling their cars and multiple gas cans….Why? Does everyone in town drive with their gas gauge on E? Do you need to fill up 5 gas cans? Why are you panicking?? Today every gas station that is open has a line 3 hours long… again. Why are you panicking?
The only grocery store that was open had more customers than they will ever have again in one day. Why??… Do that many people in this town not have enough food to last more than a day ?..Today, all the stores are like this …Why are you panicking??
The word “neighbor “ has been non existent the last couple days, I’ve seen more fights and arguments and people yelling at others. A lot of Me before You behavior. Seems it’s everyman for himself ( not in every case, but I’ve seen way more than not ).. Why? Why are you panicking??
Do you not realize that it is this behavior that makes the situation worse? When you stock pile items that you don’t need, someone who does need has to go without. Be it gas ,food, or whatever. Sit back, take a breath and assess the situation before you react. A lot of this chaos could be avoided if people would stop panicking.
It scares me to think.. what are you gonna do when the fit really hits the shan? Civilization would collapse in a day.
Stay calm , be prepared, and don’t get caught in a situation you could have avoided with a little bit of planning or forward thinking.
