A beautiful brown trout, a Brady’s net, and a smile that says everything.
This is why we build them — to be there for the moments you’ll remember long after the fish swims away.
Thanks for letting us be part of your time on the water.

Brady's Handmade Nets
Custom handmade fly fishing nets. Built by father and son in our back yard shop since 2017.
“Now that the epoxy on the Buckeye twins has cured, it’s time for the next step.
Before I do anything else, I carefully lay out the center line on each net and transfer those marks over the ends.
The reason is simple — these are going back through the drum sander to flatten everything out.
The sanding will make the epoxy cloudy, and I won’t be able to see the fish clearly anymore to know if everything is still lined up where it needs to be.
A little planning now saves a lot of problems later.”
When a customer asked if I could burn a fly fisherman riding a rainbow trout like a rodeo cowboy, I couldn’t pass up the challenge.
This piece, appropriately named “Trout Jockey,” started with a light laser outline and then hours of hand burning with a Walmart wood burner to bring out the details. Every scale, shadow, wrinkle, and contour was added one line at a time.
I even managed to make a mistake along the way. The fishing line somehow ended up connected to the angler’s hand instead of the fish’s mouth. A little sanding, a straight edge, and a second attempt fixed that problem.
Walnut can be a tricky canvas. The open grain and pores make it difficult to keep a consistent burn, but they also give the finished artwork a character all its own.
This one definitely falls into the category of “I’ve never made anything quite like it before.”
Trout Jockey.
Built one at a time in South Carolina.
Not all maps are meant to hang on a wall.”
This curly maple net carries the contours of a place that matters. Every line was engraved to reflect the landscape, turning a favorite piece of water into something that can be carried streamside for years to come.
A fishing net. A memory. A story.
The next step in the Buckeye twins process.
Josh has added the creek stones and the hand-painted pewter fish — bringing even more character into these handles.
Now it’s just a matter of finishing them up and letting all those details come to life.
The final reveal is getting close.

Woodworking
More work on the Buckeye twins.
Blending the transition where the wood meets the epoxy is always a challenge.
It’s a balance between what I see in my head and what my hands can create.
That’s the fun part of building something by hand — every piece teaches you something.

This net came back to us for repair after seeing plenty of time on the water.
A little care, some careful repair work, and it’s back together again.
Before the finish goes back on, you can see the work that brings it back to strength.
It may carry a few marks from its adventures — but it’s ready for many more.
