A parent asked me once: why don't you take everyone?
Because one person who doesn't trust the process can undo ten who do.
I've watched it happen too many times. One family comes in who doesn't get it. And the whole room shifts.
1. The environment is fragile
What I've built here took 35 years. The culture. The trust. The way children support each other. One person who doesn't believe in the process can damage all of it. Not intentionally. Just by being in the wrong place.
2. I've made the mistake before
I used to take everyone. I thought more students meant more impact. I was wrong. The wrong students don't just fail to grow. They slow down everyone around them. The children who were thriving start to plateau. The parents who trusted the process start to doubt.
3. That's why I'm selective now
Not because I'm elite. Because the environment only works if everyone in it is committed. Coachable children. Parents who trust the process. Families who understand that real development takes time.
4. One bad fit costs ten good ones
I've watched it happen. A family comes in looking for a quick fix. They push back on the methods. They want to direct from the sidelines. And the children who were growing start to feel the shift. The room gets smaller.
5. The filter protects everyone
When I say no to the wrong family, I'm saying yes to every family already here. That's the job. Protect the environment. Protect the culture. Protect the children who are becoming something.
How I can help
If you understand why selectivity matters, if you're ready to trust the process, come have a conversation. One visit. You'll know in five minutes if this is the right fit.
The goal is who you become.

Last year, Professor received the rare honor of being named an Honorary Commander with . 🇺🇸
This week, he’s on the ground in San Antonio, TX at JBSA getting a firsthand look at the training, discipline, and process every Airman goes through to serve our country.
An incredible opportunity, a humbling experience, and a true representation of leadership beyond the mats. We couldn’t be more proud to have him representing SMASH Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the community. 👊

Last week we celebrated everyone who stepped up and competed at at the convention center 👊
To wrap it up, we turned class into a celebration—waffles loaded with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and sprinkles 🔥
We are incredibly proud of every athlete who had the courage to step on the mat and test themselves. That’s what growth is all about.
Huge thank you to all the parents as well—your support does not go unnoticed. Hearing about you working with your kids at home to help them prepare means everything to us. That’s how champions are built—together.
Let’s keep leveling up 💪
