Welcome to the Broken Inn, thanks for checking in!
For this episode, we're spending time with Alysha and Nic Merenz, the owners of Red's Root Cellar, a market farm built on hard work, self-sufficiency, and a passion for feeding their community.
What started as an interest in homesteading grew into something much bigger. After building raised garden beds during the uncertainty of 2020, Alysha and Nic turned a backyard food-growing project into a thriving market farm. Today, they're raising food, raising a family, and working toward a future where fresh produce and food education are more accessible to everyone.
In this episode, Alysha and Nic share the story behind Red's Root Cellar, what life on a farm really looks like, and the clothing they rely on through long days of planting, harvesting, repairs, and everything in between. Alysha describes her style as "alternative boho blue collar," while Nic focuses on practical gear that can handle whatever the day throws at him.
From Levi's 501 jeans and BRUNT work boots to Carhartt cargo pants, KEEN work boots, and Smith + Rogue apparel, every piece has earned its place through real-world use. These aren't clothes saved for special occasions. They're the clothes that show up for early mornings, dirty hands, and meaningful work.
This is Alysha and Nic Merenz.
