I like the "sharpening the sword" phrase and concept. Building the base is really where most of us should be in our training most of the time, periodically peaking for an event/test. Working anti-glycolytic sn**ches has really helped me make the dreaded sn**ch test more doable.

Some not great photos of some really solid deadlifting yesterday.
Some PRs were hit. Some laughs were had. Some curses may have been directed toward the coach during the conditioning segment.

đ˘ Attention current students!!! đ˘ Save the date! End of cycle test day is Saturday, October 11th at 10 am. Youâll get 3 attempts to set a new PR on deadlift and bench. Then youâll have the option of max reps pull-ups or flex-arm hang for time. Weâll finish up with a 5-minute sn**ch test. This is a great way to finish out the 6 week cycle and celebrate everyoneâs hard work. đŞ No special registration required. Just sign up for the 10 am class as you normally would. Two decades ago, at the dawn of our new kettlebell era, our colleague Rob Lawrence quipped that, âKettlebells have what one might call a âwhat the hell?' effect. If you just do your lifts, you will suddenly find yourself with all kinds of new abilities.â
Not to be confused with beginners' gains, the WTH effect refers to unexpected performance carryover in intermediate and advanced athletes. For example, how could an athlete good at pullups get even better by doing kettlebell sn**ches?
âThe âwhat the hell effectâ is when you suddenly realize you can do handstand pushups, heavy weighted dips, and loads of other things you've never practiced, thanks to your kettlebell training,â clarifies Rob.
