Many of you know Rhonda Paulsen as she is a long time Flying Irish member with over 300 runs.

What you may not have known is that Rhonda tragically lost her house, and everything in it, during the Spokane complex fires last month. It has been really inspiring to see Rhonda’s resilience and ever-present positive attitude throughout the unimaginable, and it has also been heartwarming to see the running community come together to support one another during this difficult time.

Two years ago, Rhonda won a Flying Irish cribbage board as one of the grand prizes at the end of season party. This board, along with countless other valuables, was unfortunately lost in the fire. Last week our former Grand Poobah Brendan Dowling generously donated and presented Rhonda with a new cribbage board to replace her old one.

Thank you Brendan, and thank you to our other members who have helped support one another in the wake of these devastating fires 🙏

We are looking to put together a Flying Irish team to compete in the BRRC Cross Country Series and we need YOU!

What is the BRRC Cross Country Series, you ask? Well, it is a series of timed meets put on by the Bloomsday Road Runners Club every fall where local run clubs can compete at "teams" for the glory of a traveling TROPHY.

There are three 5k races and one 12k race in the series, but you do not need to sign up for all of the events: as long as we have at least three members present per event we are eligible to compete, but at least 5 would be ideal, so the more the merrier!

For more information, see flyer below, and to register follow the link provided.

https://runsignup.com/Race/WA/Spokane/BRRCCrossCountryRaces

The first meet is September 6th at Audubon Park. If you sign up for all four events, you are entitled to a $5 discount off of all four.

When: Thursday, August 20th
Time: 6:00pm
Where: Uprise Brewing (617 N. Ash St)
Route: Ridge Runner
