Planning for the 2027 Big Horn Show is ramping up! 🎉

All summer we’ve been working behind the scenes, laying the groundwork for our best show in years. We’re going all out because 2027 is a big one. 65 years. 💥 Yes!!! 65 years of antlers, fish stories, new gear, old friends, and that one booth you swear you’ll only stop at for a minute.

This year’s theme is Then & Now; celebrating how far we have come. We’ve been digging through dusty archives and old newspapers, and let’s just say... we found some things. Wonderful things. Stories you’ve never heard. Photos that haven’t seen daylight in decades and a few surprises about how this whole thing got started that even we didn’t see coming. 👀

We’ll be spilling it a little at a time, so don’t go far.

Circle March 18 through 21, 2027 at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center. It’s about to get fun.

Free fishing weekend + trout derby = a perfect time outdoors!

The WDFW Trout Derby is a fantastic way to introduce beginners to the joys of fishing. Bring a friend or family member to create lasting memories and foster a love for the outdoors. You might even win a prize. Find all the details on our derby homepage (https://wdfwderby.com/)

Derby lakes are part of Washington’s Free Fishing Weekend June 6-7 (this weekend!). Other opportunities include largemouth and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and other game fish in lakes, along with rockfish, surfperch, American shad, lingcod, cabezon, flounder, sole and other bottomfish species in Puget Sound marine areas. Licenses are still required to fish for or harvest salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, halibut, and all shellfish. All other fishing rules and regulations still apply. (https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/free)

The WDFW announced that this year's free fishing weekend will return across Washington state June 6–7, allowing people to fish for many species without purchasing a license. Some species remain explicitly banned, however. MORE BELOW ⬇️
