We are absolutely heartbroken over the devastating loss of our dear friend W***y Bartlett. We will always be thankful for his guidance and support when we started race timing, without him Northern Peaks Alliance would not have been anywhere near successful! He was there through some of our hardest and stressful days encouraging us to move forward. His contagious smile and seriousness when needed will be truley missed. We are thinking about our Kellogg family at this time. The least we could do at this time is to create a go fund me to help ease this burden for his family and show the support to his community that he has shown all of them. We love you W***y and may you rest in powder and hero dirt on a beautiful bluebird day ❄️❤️‍🩹⛷️

As many of you are aware we had to cancel the remainder of our Silveroxx Dialed MTB DH Sunday due to injury on the course. We were able to get all of our CAT 1 riders down but had to cancel the race before the PRO's were able to race. For many of you up on the mountain as you probably witnessed this was an extremely complex injury requiring the whole mountain to shut down so the rider could have the best emergency response from the team at Silver and life flight. The rider's family has given me permission to share that unfortunately due to the extent of his injuries he did not survive. We were in touch with the family from the moment the rider went down and have been supporting them all week throughout this unthinkable time. This has been a very difficult time for us personally as we would never wish for any injury to occur to any of our racers. One thing we were truly inspired by was the amount of support and help we saw not only on the mountain but after helping get things gathered and taken care of after. We appreciate everyone's patience with getting times and awards out and apologize for any inconvenience regarding awards in the village. I will be mailing all medals within the next week to all riders that were able to finish and recieve a time. Drew, Barry and I had the honor of representing the downhill community today with his family during his walk of heros as he goes on to save 5 lives through organ donation. Northern Peaks Alliance is hoping to be working with the PTSD Veteran Athletes in the future to put together a memorial ride and fundraiser in his honor.Douglas Frey had an amazing family and I wanted to share a few things they have posted about him:

From his daughter Ariel and family: “We want to thank Silver Mountain, the race group, the CCU and hospital staff and all first responders so much for your hospitality and support during this time. Also, all of his biking community and friends, you all were his family and he was so fulfilled and happy after meeting PTSD Veteran Athletes. Doug was an army veteran who served in Kuwait, the gulf war operation desert storm as a tank gunner to tank commander. Doug had very high highs and low lows throughout his life, and always said he never knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. He dedicated himself to our country and his family and finally through meeting PTSD Veteran Athletes he was able to dedicate his life to his passion mountain biking. He spent the last few years traveling and racing at many different events. He was a true inspiration taking many podiums at 61! He has left us but he did it doing what he loved and we know he wouldn't have it any other way Mountain biking. His family and Zaya were his life and we honestly believe he would have no regrets in leaving and that Zaya (his beautiful dog), his best friend will be taken care of. As you all know Barry who works at SIlver Mountain BIke Shop has graciously adopted Zaya and she couldn't be fitting better into her new home on the mountain around what she knows.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers with Doug's family as they navigate through this very tough time. We are also keeping our thoughts with all you racers and riders during this time as we all know this is never anything we expect to go through. You are all amazing and we appreciate your support more than you ever know. If you see Zaya up at SIlver make sure to give her some extra loves and snuggles, she is the sweetest girl!
