Hey, I wish I could share this as a voice note, but here's a wall of text. I trained in bodybuilding for about 21 years now. Yes, this is how I build most of my physique. The thing is that, as someone who's not using steroids, and never has, at some point you kind of run on other tools and get stagnant. So what can you do about that?
Well, the first thing is to be 100% sure that you are actually about to Max out your genetics. A lot of people will say that they hit a cap, but it's just that you're actually not training that hard and not paying attention to nutrition. If you've never followed a structured plan, don't assume that you're stuck. You might just not be doing it the right way.
In case you have indeed trained properly, and followed a tight nutrition, but are not seeing results anymore, maybe it's time to consider other options. As weightlifters, especially bodybuilders, we are mostly focused on hypertrophy, which is essentially focusing on building muscles. Muscles. This is exactly what Juan should do to get that result, but there are other ways that you can train to enhance your physique.
While strength and endurance are not the best tools out there to build muscles, they will add a little bit on your frame. If you've never trained over 20 reps or under five reps, it might be time to consider doing that now. While it would be a mistake for a beginner, it might be your redemption as a more advanced lifter.
Performance training will also help you push boundaries in directions that you would not have expected. One example is how in weightlifting, you typically finish your set at failure, but in performance, you need to get to a certain number no matter what. This will force you to go above and beyond and tap into muscle fibers that might have remained inactive in the traditional bodybuilding training. Yes, you can tap in more muscle fibers using mind muscle connection and proper training, but let's acknowledge that there's something powerful about being obligated yet to 100 reps no matter what LOL.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
