The outdoor 3D archery range is open from sunrise to sunset, Tuesday - Sunday. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center opened its doors to the public on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. Visiting the center is free, thanks to Amendment 75 and the 1/8th-Cent Conservation Fund! The center, located at 3400 North 40th Street in Springdale, is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m, Tuesday - Saturday.

🦌Upcoming Program: Mammals of Arkansas/ Soap Tracks🐻

Join us at the Nature Center on Saturday, Sept. 26th, to learn more about the wide variety of mammals that call Arkansas home. You will be able to get up close with multiple pelts while learning all the interesting facts about these native animals. In addition, you will be able to make and keep your own personal soap in the shape of a mammal foot track.

🦌Upcoming Program: 3 Day In-Person Hunter Education Course🦌

Hunter Education is a 10-hour, instructor-led and hands-on demonstration class that develops safe, responsible, and knowledgeable hunters. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1969, is required to have taken and passed state approved a Hunter Education Safety Course in order to be legal to hunt in the State of Arkansas.

-This hunter education course will span over 3 evenings (Sept. 28th-30th). each starting at 5:30PM at the J.B. & Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highland Nature Center.

-You must attend all 3 nights to complete the course.

-Registration is Required

🐟Upcoming Program: Seine Netting and Fish ID🐟

Come join us here at the Ozark Highland Nature Center this Saturday (Sept. 19th) to dive into the Spring Creek. Where we will be taking a look at the wide variety of organisms such fish and macroinvertebrates that call this creek home. Creeks and streams are a very diverse habitat but also sensitive. By seeing which species are present within this waterway, we will be able to determine the water quality. Seine netting is a great approach to seeing these organisms up close. This program calls for physical participation. Please wear shoes and clothing that you wouldn't mind getting wet/dirty.

Upcoming Event: World Champion Squirrel Cook Off SEPT. 12th

Its just about that time again for the World Champion Squirrel Cook Off Competition, here at the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highland Nature Center! World Squirrel Cook-Off is a national cooking competition where the main ingredient must be squirrel. Check out all the competitors and try out dishes. Vendors, booths, entertainment, and more await you at this nationally recognized event. This event is a CASHLESS (card only) event. Onsite Parking is open to ADA only, there will be free off-site parking with bus shuttles running throughout the day.

This event included a multitude of fun and exciting experiences for all members of the family. AGFC educators will be on-site hosting multiple educational experiences. These include:
