FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Future Champions Sports Complex and Illinois Theater of Jacksonville partner again to show documentary in memory of young baseball player

Jacksonville, Ill. – Future Champions Sports Complex and the Illinois Theater are proud to present special showings of the award-winning short film “Safe at Home,” a documentary that honors the life and legacy of Brad Wallin— a young athlete who succumbed to osteosarcoma, a rare form of childhood bone cancer, in 2004.

The screenings will take place during the 22nd year of the Brad Wallin Memorial Tournament. Hosted for the second year at Future Champions over the next two weekends, May 30-31 and June 6–7, approximately 80 teams will travel to Jacksonville to play in this year’s tournament. The film showing offers players, families and community members a powerful way to connect with Wallin’s courage, character and the spirit of youth baseball during the two weekends dedicated to his memory.

Showtimes at the Illinois Theater for this weekend will be held on Saturday and Sundays at the following times:
• Saturday, June 6 mornings at 9, 9:45, 10:30, 11:15 and 12 noon
• Sunday, June 7 mornings at 9, 9:45, 10:30, 11:15 and 12 noon

The Illinois Theater is offering a special admission price of $2 to attend all showings.

“This collaboration goes beyond the game,” said Adam Jamison, co-owner of Future Champions Sports Complex. “Brad’s story represents resilience, teamwork and heart — and we’re honored to help share it with the thousands of families visiting our community over the next two weeks.”

For more information about the Brad Wallin Tournament or “Safe at Home” screenings, contact Jamison at 217.370.3469.
