Zachary Defreitas, Play-By-Play Broadcaster

In honor of my first solo broadcast three years ago, I want to thank everyone for their kind words, support, and love on this journey of mine!

I did not think that I’d be able to continue my love for the game of hockey after I stopped playing. But once I found that broadcasting felt natural, it’s been the only thing I’ve wanted.

My years and years of shamelessly looking up stats and analyzing games as they’re going on seems to have paid off!

I can’t begin to count the number of messages I’ve gotten this year from those who are excited for me to be back and I’d be lying if I said those don’t start the waterworks from time to time.

Thank you all, for everything 💙 I’ll be back stronger, louder, and better than ever!

I might’ve called my last game for awhile but I just want to say how amazing this season was. I feel like I truly began to stretch my wings as a broadcaster and that I am on the right track moving forward 🤘🏻 See you guys one day soon!

May have been the best experience I’ve had in years! The 2021 NAHL Showcase was amazing and I truly appreciate the kind words and encouragement from all the parents, fans, and my friends!

It’s been awhile folks!

I finally got to put on the headset for the Springfield Jr. Blues again and I couldn’t be more proud of the boys! I was entirely too caught in the games so I had to swipe a few pictures that Erica took! 🤣

Wrapping up my first season with the Sliders last night as they finished the year with an 8-3 victory over Cape! Can’t thank my broadcast partner Nik Jackson enough for all he’s done this summer in helping my find my rhythm behind the mic and for being an awesome friend!

Also want to make sure I give a shout-out to Todd Miller and Brian Harrison for allowing me the opportunity to call Sliders games this season.
