Check out what rising junior Rachael Irving had to say about WNE and our program! 🔊

“I chose WNE because it gave me the unique opportunity to be able to continue playing the sport I love at a high level while pursuing a degree in pharmacy. WNE allows me to explore all of my interests inside and outside of the classroom, including providing me with the opportunity to conduct undergraduate research. Additionally, the community at WNE, especially the athletics community, is very tight knit, and the small size of WNE makes it very easy to connect with peers, faculty, and staff.”

“Our team culture is like being a part of a family. Playing at WNE has brought me a group of sisters and life long friends that I will forever cherish. Our team is the most positive and fun group that I have ever been a part of. I’ve truly never had more fun playing hockey than I have had at WNE. You can constantly find our team singing or dancing at practices, games, and around campus, and this positive energy is what allows us to remain successful during times of adversity. The needs of the team always come first over individual needs and we collectively buy into the process and dedicate ourselves to make the team better. On top of that, we support one another with compassion and kindness, and we always have fun.”

“The coaching staff at WNE is authentic and passionate. Coach Zim and the entire staff deeply cares about our individual development on and off the ice. Their dedication to making this team better is unmatched, and they do so by bringing positivity into the rink every day. The coaching staff challenges and pushes us to reach our fullest potential. It is easy to show up and play for them because of how much they do for us. They inspire me to work hard and have fun every day to be the best player, teammate, student, and person that I can be. I am forever grateful for Coach Zim and the staff for providing me with the opportunity to be a Golden Bear, and for the endless support and life lessons they have provided me with.”
