We Bocce. And we Bocce HARD! Thursday nights at The Aqua Club

Here's the updated bracket. If you can't make it before your originally scheduled time, that's totally understandable. Just do your best to make it out as soon as you can

Tournament tonight! Slight change in schedule.
One team can't make it so I'm reworking the bracket. It won't effect too much, but your first game may be taking place at the slot earlier than originally scheduled. Except Beanies and Weenies, you'll now get a 1st rd bye for being the 1 seed. I'll try to have the bracket out ASAP. But plan on being there a little earlier most likely.

Hello everyone. We've been monitoring the weather all day hoping that the storm would dissipate a little. Unfortunately there's still a 100% percent chance of a nasty storm blowing through that is expected to last more than an hour. So we're going to cancel tonight, and have our tournament next week. Sorry for any inconvenience. Dan did say he was still going to be there for a little bit tonight before the storm rolls in if you want to swing by. See you next week!

Good morning !

Here's the tournament bracket for Thursday.

A few things to keep in mind:

-We're playing a few games than a regular season night so please try to arrive on time and be ready to move the games along.

-Only players who have played for your team at some point during the regular season are allowed to play on your team for the tournament.

-You may not sub players from another team for the tournament.

***Reminder*** There are no games scheduled for tomorrow, April 23rd! This was scheduled to be an off night before the season started. Our favorite bartender Dan does plan to be there serving cold ones so feel free to still head out and play a few pick up games. See you all next week!

A question was asked in our email thread that goes out to all team captains about how forfeits are handled. Please take a second to read:

In the past we've never really had a set policy for forfeits or no-shows. The official rules say that it gets scored 15-0. I'm not crazy about that for a few reasons. For one, final standings at the end of the season are decided by overall record, then point differential. So when a team has a free win and a +15 point swing that isn't super fair to a team who has played and won an actual game. Instead of 15-0, we've tried just giving the winning team their average score for all of their games on the season. It's not perfect, but it's more fair than 15-0. We've also tried to reschedule these games if possible. The thought is that we all pay money and show up to actually play the games, not to get free wins. Either way, it creates kind of a scheduling ripple effect that changes things for a few weeks down the road, sometimes the whole season.

The game last week is going in as a forfeit. As of now it's scored 15-0. At the end of the season I'll find the average score for the winning team and adjust the score for that game. I've also made a few schedule adjustments to move the game that was accidentally played last week. So assuming we have no more forfeits or no-shows, the current schedule should be correct for the remainder of the season. No teams have any weeks where they will play any less than 2 games. Please check the schedule as I've made a couple changes as of today. See everyone tonight!

We made a slight change to tonight's schedule to accommodate and avoid a team having to forfeit.

Good afternoon!

We may get hit with a few showers this evening but we're going to give it a go and hope for the best. A few things to know ahead of time:

-Entry fee is $50/team

-The bar accepts cash only, no debit cards. There is an atm however

-Dan is awesome and takes time out of his life to bartend for us. Tip him well!

-We self referee. Please make sure both sides agree on scoring before picking up the balls

-20 min per game. If you're winning late, don't stall like a dick.

-Teams consist of 4 players.

In reading how bocce ball is supposed to be played, we're making a few changes in rules from seasons past:

-After the first team rolls the white ball, if their first roll of a colored ball is not a qualifying roll, they DO NOT get to roll that ball again. That ball comes off the court, and the first team will roll their 2nd ball. This continues until they roll a legal ball, or until they are out of balls.

-Though teams consist of 4 players, you are allowed to play with 2 or 3. However, players may not alternate sides each round. And each player is only allowed 2 balls to roll per round. For example, if a team has 3 players, 2 will be at one end and only 1 will be at the other for the entire game. The end with 2 players will be allowed to roll all 4 balls per round, but the end with one player will only roll 2 balls per round.

If a team only has 2 players, they will stand at opposite ends and only roll 2 balls per round.

Substituting players from other teams is allowed during the regular season, but not during the tournament.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
