I don’t come to the racetrack unless I think we can win every race. At both Bristol and Sonoma, I was convinced we were going to win. I thought everyone else was just wasting their time showing up for the final. It took a little longer than I wanted, but getting this victory means a lot for our team. It does a ton for morale, especially after I goofed up in the first round. We just needed another run in good conditions to really understand what our car was going to do.
This car has been so close all season long. Every race it seemed like something different kept us from getting the win. It was never because we were way off. It was always one small thing where, if we’d done it a little differently, it probably would’ve run. To finally put the whole package together and prove how close we’ve been all along is really satisfying. I never lost confidence because I knew we’d get here eventually, but it’s nice that everyone else can see it now too. We’re still chasing that first Sunday win, but this team is right there.

After our win, we had a lot of confidence going into today. Unfortunately, we thought the racetrack was a little better than it actually was. To add insult to injury, as I was peddling the car, I got it to recover, but we wound up breaking some stuff in the process. Not my best job but, we’ve got a good race car to take to Brainerd, and I see no reason why we can't be a pain in their ass there.
