The WC XC team battled the heat at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville yesterday. Results are below.

Luke McIlvoy (“The Machine”) was missing from yesterday’s lineup due to a broken arm but hopes to return toward the end of the season.

The middle and high schoolers battled the heat last night at the Run for the Gold.

Middle schoolers, Landon Bartley, Jeffrey (“Junior”) Bailey, Ezekiel (“Zeke”) Lyons and Silas Greek competed in the 2900 meter race with Landon placing 74th of 187 and setting a PR of 13:19. This was Junior’s first XC meet and he finished 129th with just one second separating his and Zeke’s times of 15:02 and 15:03. Silas had a strong finish of 17:13.

High Schoolers, Maddie Wethington and Bruna Martinez, both brought strong performances to their first XC races in the JV 5k.
Maddie finished 53rd of 176 with a time of 26:33 and Bruna placed 114th in 30:37.

We’re so proud of all of these great athletes for their strong performances and the effort they put into getting better. This was a great start to our XC season!

Luke “The Machine” McIlvoy and Isaiah Lyons braved the heat this morning running in the 4th-6th race at Run for the Gold.

-Luke McIlvoy takes first place out of 107 runners with a 5:45 mile. 🥇
-Isaiah Lyons sets a new PR with a 8:52 finishing in 76th. 🏃‍♂️💨

The Cross Country team beat the heat today by focusing on speed work!

If you’d like to join us, our next practice is Wednesday at 7:30 at Idle Hour Park. We’d love to have you!

Hope everyone is enjoying their spring! Starting Thursday, 5/14, we will be holding voluntary meet-ups at the park in Springfield near the splash pad beginning at 6:30 PM. We plan to wrap up around 7:45 PM.

This is a great opportunity to get active, have some fun, and get in shape before the summer heat arrives!

Middle schooler Landon Bartley has been putting in the work all offseason, and it’s paying off in a big way. He’s made tremendous progress, cutting serious time off his per-mile pace. Can’t wait to watch this young man run this season!!!
