14 years ago Soke Takashi Nagamine Sensei passed away. I really enjoyed the few times I was able to train with him. He definitely inspired me. His Yoko Tobi Geri was much better than mine. Continue to rest in peace Sensei.

Huge congratulations are in order for the extraordinary Sensei Kenneth Hutchinson on attaining the esteemed rank of Godan (5th Dan) certification! Throughout the years, Sensei Kenneth has demonstrated unwavering dedication and perseverance, setting a shining example for all. His remarkable achievement marks a milestone as the first from our Dojo to reach this prestigious worldwide rank, inspiring us all. I'm filled with immense pride. Let's raise a glass in celebration - Kanpai (乾杯) 🥂

KARATE PROMOTION EXAM This weekend. Our Young Karate Ka trained hard and advanced in rank. They truly Polished their Spirits through Sweat.

Congratulations to Sensei Yosh*taka Taira (Hanshi, 10th Dan) I love our style of Karate.

April 10, 2026, the Okinawa Prefectural Cultural Properties Protection Council officially recommended our President, Yosh*taka Taira (Hanshi, 10th Dan), to be designated as a holder of the Okinawa Prefecture Intangible Cultural Asset for "Okinawan Karate and Kobudo."

The very first designation for this cultural asset took place on August 8, 1997, and our founder, Nagamine Shoshin O'Sensei, was among the first recipients. Now, 29 years later, Taira Kaicho has become the second master in the history of Matsubayashi-Ryu to receive this designation, following the path set by O'Sensei.

We believe this recognition reflects Taira Kaicho’s selfless and tireless pursuit of the art—his daily discipline and pure enthusiasm for polishing techniques and sharing Karate with the world, regardless of status or reward.

This is also a shared honor for all WMKA members who train together across the globe. Let us continue to weave the legacy of Matsubayashi-Ryu together as one family.
