A friend of mine might be bringing in Burton Richardson to Saint Louis. I'm wondering if anyone is interested? I know it would be a unique and beneficial experience... he's trained with a lot of people and is very well versed in a number of arts..

MANY JKD conversations online and here in Facebook land...

So many opinions, accusations, adulation and slanders... particularly regarding Dan and other 1st generation instructors. Here is my take on the crusade :-)

Inosanto did not "add" 26 arts... he "drew" from 26 arts.

If Bruce had not done the grappling scene with Kareem many would be arguing about how JKD should not have any groundwork.

Once you call yourself a purist... JKD disappears like an electron when we try to "capture" it.

I think of Bruce's notions on JKD as Heisenbergh's uncertainty principal for martial arts...

The "technique" exists in a probabilistic relationship with the members of an encounter, but when we try to parse it out of the dynamic for "analysis" we lose much of what we attempted to measure and reflect upon.

The electron is only itself in the dynamic...and only then is it's full expression of its potentiality available.

So too is the artist.

My humble opinion. :-)

Dan Inosanto: "That's why I like to teach under Jun Fan Gung Fu. I don't like to teach under Jeet Kune Do. Because JKD is more a set of principles and concepts. A lot of people got upset that I used JKD concepts. I probably should have said JKD philosophy, principles and concepts. I like Jun Fan Gung Fu because it's a method of progression. It has structure and you can eveolve. JKD is really a concept that Sifu Bruce handed down. It's a set of principles that is not to be exactly followed. But he's say, "To know the principle. To follow the principle. And dissolve the principle. Know the law. Follow the law. Dissolve the law. Know the structure. Follow the structure. Dissolve the structure." This is something that he would say to me all the time."
