It is a sad day for the Shamrocks as long time and original member of the Shamrocks, Brian Springer, has been forced into an early retirement. In early June he had his aortic valve replaced for the 3rd time and hopefully the last requiring a full open heart procedure. While this was successful and he was on the road to returning to the ice in 3 months he suffered a heart attack caused by a blood clot. Miraculously he survive this but the left side of his heart did not. After a lengthy hospital stay he was implanted with an LVAD which will forever prevent him from returning to any contact sports.

Shamrocks struggles through the 4th quarter of the regular season leave them needing a win in their final game against the Jets to make the playoffs. So what do we do? Fall into a first period 3-0 deficit. With the season on the line the boys put on the work boots and scored 2 quick second period goals and late in the third period found the tying goal. Tied 3-3 after regulation the boys needed a win in overtime to make the playoffs. That looked improbable as the shamrocks took a penalty with 2:30 remaining and a running clock. Never fear. Super sub Mike Trares got an opportunity and used his speed down the right wing and sniped a beauty short side shorty where momma hides the cookies to give the shamrocks the W and the chance to play for Toronto.

The regular season ends with the shamrocks going a very unprofessional 7-8-4-1 but it was enough to get them where they wanna be. Some of the playoff revenue will be going to the planned James Riggle statue out in front of Wendy’s at the cave springs exit in st. Pete. More on that to come.

Looks like we will play the first playoff game Wednesday night.

Shamrocks move to 5-5-4-1 as they take down the grizzlies 7-3. Brad porter stopped 35 shots and Michael Trares scored his first shamrock hatty 🍀🍀🍀. Up next the shamrocks take on the stars who have been a thorne in our side this season beating us twice with a combined score of 10-2.

Now time for the fun stuff.

Shamrocks would like to congratulate our resident all star Brad Porter on his 2nd straight selection to the spring classic.

Joining Brad will be forward Jason Burian for his first all star game appearance as well as defensman Dustin “Rhodes” Roberts who will be making his second appearance.

Congrats cuties

Shams start the new year 1-3-1 and are clinging on tight to the third playoff spot in the division. We’re out of B3 hell though and ready to fight for the playoffs. Will we make it? Stay tuned.

Nobody ties better than us. See below for our secret.

The Shamrocks enjoy free hockey as their 4th game this season goes to overtime and for the third time there was no winner. 2-2. Gans and Evans score in this one while sub goalie Nico Basel stopped 45 of 47 shots to hold us in the game as the wildcats (2 division higher than us 😎) poured it on after we took the first period 2-0 lead. That’ll do it for us in 2023 ending the year on a 7 game point streak after dropping the first 2 games of the year. We sit pretty in 3rd place in the division.

Shamrocks defeat jets 6-0.

Brad Porter stopped 28 shots to earn his 4th career shutout.
Michael Trares stepped in for suspended defenseman Chia Bhakta (pictured below) and added a goal and an assist in his shamrocks debut.
Tyler Gans also scored 2 goals, while Dan Cahill scored his second consecutive shorthanded goal. Captain James riggle and Nick Heembrock provide the rest of the goals as the shamrocks now sit in third place in the B5 division with a record of 3-2-2-1 improving their point streak to 6 games.

One more game against the B3 wildcats then the shamrocks will take a break until January 5th when they will try to avenge their last regulation loss against the stars.

Keep in touch.

Shamrocks move to 2-2-1-1 after an overtime loss last night to the raptors. Down a goal heading into the third the boys would push back and take the lead but a late goal by the raptors would send the game to overtime and as mentioned above the raptors were able to score to get the win. With the point from the tie the shams move to a tie for 4th place in the division and will take on the first place skeleton crew next Monday night.

In other news the shamrocks have signed forward Michael Trares to the sub roster. Trares was arch enemy number one back in the hamms beermen days and will help add some much needed scoring to the team.

2-2-1 😎

More later.

Hi Sham fans.

B5 has been an adventure so far. Let’s recap the last couple games.

We took the ice 2 weeks ago against the stars and came out firing taking an early 1-0 lead but a terrible shamrock second period where we let up 3 goals would be too much and the boys lost 5-1. Porter made 37 saves and Bhakta provided the only goal. Onto the next one.

In danger of falling to 0-3 on the season, The shams took the ice against the 2-0 ice men this past Sunday night and fell in an early 2-0 hole. But we’re tired of losing so we pulled ourselves up by the bootstraps and popped in 5 goals on 25 shots including the game winning hat trick goal by Bhakta with 6 seconds left resulting in handshakes(for almost all of us) following the 5-4 victory. Porter again stood on his head stopping 33 shots and Jason Burian and Dustin Roberts supplied the other tallies.

Up next the shamrocks take on the spitfires this upcoming Sunday. We’ll be in touch.

Sportsmanship. Pass it on.

Late push not enough to overcome terrible second period as the shams lose their first of the season. After a quick start to the first period saw the boys leading 2-1 after 1, The Jets pile on three in the second and add another in the early third to go up 3. With 5 minutes to go the shamrocks battled back to come to within one but an empty netter sealed the deal. 6-4 was the final.

Goals in this one provided by Dustin Roberts, Tom Mazuranic, Tony Evans and Chia Bhakta. Up next the shamrocks hit the ice zone next Thursday night to take on the Stars.
