When something doesn’t go according to plan, does that make it a failure? What do you think makes something a failure?

Mundane and boring tasks exist in any project- but the pay off is often worth it!

What tasks do you do that are mundane but set you up for success/ help you reach a personal goal?

Embrace the Suck

Not all parts of the journey are glamorous. Whether it’s your movement journey, a creative endeavor, or simply a personal goal- when you show up on your worst days you “embrace the suck” because you know doing so will make things better for you in the future.

You can plan and plan and plan…
Think through every possibility.
Try to predict how it’s all going to play out.

And sometimes, you spend so much time deliberating that eventually you realize…

That thing you want can’t wait anymore! It's time to act.

That new beginning doesn’t have to start on a Monday.
Or a day ending in 0 or 5.
Or the first of the month.
Or the beginning of a new quarter.

It can start whenever you get tired of gathering information and preparing—and decide to lean into the process, trust yourself, and actually experience it.

You may not feel ready. You may not have every detail figured out. But the moment you begin, you start moving in the direction you’ve been preparing for all along.

There’s more to this thought—and it’s something that’s been on my mind lately. A conversation about curiosity, boredom, and starting before you’re ready is coming soon.

Learning something new takes time—and as an adult, it can feel like there’s never quite enough of it. But being a beginner is something to celebrate.

When you’re willing to try something new, even when you’re not sure you’ll be good at it, you remind yourself—and those around you—that curiosity doesn’t have an expiration date.

The dreams you had as a kid don’t have to expire just because you grew up. There is still time to explore!

As life gets fuller—and sometimes heavier—making space for the things that bring you joy becomes even more important.

When you choose what helps you feel good—mentally, emotionally, and physically—you’re building strength from the inside out.

When you prioritize your happiness, you give the people around you permission to do the same. Permission to find joy, to stay curious, and to keep moving.

Happy Birthday, Alice! đź’›

Alice is a lifelong dancer who continues to exemplify the beauty, joy, and grace that dance can bring into a life.

Through her teaching and performing, Alice shares a deep appreciation for movement, along with the wisdom and knowledge gathered through a lifetime of dancing. Her classes invite fellow learners to slow down, become curious, and tap into their own creativity, sensation, and awareness.

As a 5th-generation Isadora Duncan dancer, Alice carries forward an extraordinary artistic legacy while honoring Duncan’s contributions to modern dance. She reminds us that art has the power to break the mold, challenge convention, and make a statement.

As Central Studio continues to grow its Adult Dance Program for dancers 55+, Alice shares the transformative value of mindful movement through her classes: Move for Health, Isadora Duncan Dance, and BodyMind Dancing (BMD®).

Her students are lifelong movers, curious learners, and creative individuals who want to keep discovering — deepening their understanding of themselves, their relationships with others, and the world around them.

You can join Alice Thursdays at 10:30 AM for Move for Health at Central Studio’s Central West End location. And look ahead to October, when more classes will be added to the schedule to support daily movement, balance, vitality, and feeling more energized and connected in your body.

Happy Birthday, Alice!

Thank you for continuing to share your artistry, education, liveliness, and wisdom with the Central Studio community. đź’›
