One of our favorite, and unique to Penrose events is happening tomorrow at our Thursday Night Races - the "Six Day Style" event where each field races three consecutive events and the winner is determined via overall points - with minimal downtime between each event. Each field will race a scratch race, elimination, and points race. Not quite six days long, but a taste of non-stop racing for each group. See you tomorrow!
Penrose Park Velodrome
Penrose Park velodrome is a St. Louis City park open 7 days a week, dawn to dusk, year round with sa National Track Cycling Championships. Bumpy Face.
One of only 27 velodromes in the U.S., Penrose Park was built on land donated by the City of St. Louis in 1962 after the Forest Park Velodrome was dismantled to make room for Highway 40/64 on the south end of Forest Park. Designed by Olympic Cyclist and Schwinn Bicycle Designer, Frank Burlando, Penrose Park is an all outdoor track measuring 1/5 mile and featuring a 28 degree bank. Immediately afte

An overview of events for the rest of the season - including the second annual (possibly third annual?) River City Omnium on Sunday, August 13th. The River City Omnium is one of the few opportunities to ride a full four event omnium each year, including a tempo, scratch, elimination, and points race for each category, with cash prizes. We'd love a huge turnout this year as we have carefully selected the date to avoid conflicts with other events. It's also the weekend before the Major Taylor Velodrome Midwest Challenge, which offers top-notch events over several days. This week - we're featuring a three event mini omnium for each category including tempo, points, and snowball races. The overall omnium winners will take home some cash in each category. Weather looks great and we're excited to be back after last weeks cancellation. See you Thursday!

Ok - so after a vigorous debate, we've decided to cancel track tomorrow evening (June 29) due to the 102 degree forecasted high temperature and the combination of uncertain air quality conditions (maybe fine tomorrow? possibly gross?) We have a great lineup of events the rest of the season and the planned cash prizes for tomorrow will be moved forward to next Thursday (mini omnium for all categories!) See you all soon.

Hello All - we have keirins (and a points race as well) on the schedule for this Thursday. Our usual friendly scooter suppliers are either out of town this week or their scooter is currently out of commission. Does anyone have a scooter we could use for keirins this Thursday? It would need to be at the track by 5pm Thursday and can be returned afterwards. We're happy to pay for gas, etc. Scooter needs a max speed of at least 32 mph (or a bit more) so not every 50cc scooter will get the job done. Let us know if you can help! Thanks!
We've had three great Thursdays of racing so far this season and are looking forward to one our signature events each year, the 5 & 10 mile record races. In this event generally everyone works together to set a fast tempo for most of the races until the last few laps when the strongest riders fight it out for victory, and possibly a new fastest 5 or 10 miles. The current records at Penrose are Nick Leonard in 20:06 in 2022, and Marissa Carter in 11:54 in 2021. We generally run an A/B and B/C field depending on turnout. A big group is good for going fast! See you this Thursday!
