50 years ago today, a legend made history on the court.

On this day in 1975, Arthur Ashe stunned the world by defeating the heavily favored Jimmy Connors to become the first Black man to win Wimbledon, the crown jewel of tennis.

It wasn’t just a victory for Ashe, it was a game-changer for the sport and a defining moment for Black athletes everywhere.
