The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has ordered the state of Cameroon๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฒto pay Italian construction firm Gruppo Officine Piccini โ‚ฌ78.5 million (approx. FCFA 51.5 billion) plus interest and legal costs.
โ€‹The tribunal found the state liable for unlawful expropriation following the termination of Piccini's contract during the Olembรฉ sports complex project in 2019. While Piccini originally claimed โ‚ฌ188.7 million, the tribunal awarded roughly 41.6% of the material damages.
