In light of yesterday’s World Osteoporosis…
Why is spinal extension often preferred for osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis weakens bones and increases the risk of vertebral compression fractures. When someone rounds their spine forward, especially under load, it can increase compressive forces on the front of the vertebrae.
Spinal extension, performed appropriately, can help strengthen the muscles that support an upright posture and may reduce excessive forward rounding (kyphosis).
A neutral spine helps maintain alignment and avoids unnecessary end-range flexion.
Move with intention today, build strength for tomorrow, and remember: every movement is an investment in your future. 💙
