Ever wonder how your gear magically shows up at the next campsite? Our sweep boats have a lot to do with it. 🚣

While you’re rafting, fishing and taking in the Middle Fork, our sweep boat is making its way downriver loaded with camp gear. It travels ahead so tents, chairs, kitchen equipment and everything needed for a comfortable night can be ready when you arrive.

Sweep boats are also a fascinating piece of river history. These large, oar-powered boats have been used on Idaho’s rivers for generations to move heavy loads through remote wilderness. Unlike a traditional raft, they’re maneuvered with long “sweeps” extending from the bow and stern—a design that allows an experienced boatman to navigate a heavily loaded boat through technical water.

Today, they’re still an essential part of the Middle Fork experience—and one of the coolest boats you’ll see on the river.

As summer begins to wind down, we’re looking back on another incredible season on the Middle Fork—big rapids, beautiful camps, plenty of laughs, and memories we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Today, we’re especially grateful for the hardworking crew behind every trip. Our guides put in the miles, the early mornings, the long days, and countless hours behind the scenes to make each adventure unforgettable.

Here’s to an amazing summer, an incredible team, and one more long weekend to enjoy it all.

Some days on the Middle Fork call for a little extra recovery. 😴

After a full day of rapids, sunshine, incredible scenery and miles on the river, there’s nothing quite like finding a comfortable spot at camp, along the river, or on the boats and catching a few Z’s. 💤

Rest up. Tomorrow, we do it all over again.

Hard to believe we’re already wrapping up another incredible season on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. 🏔️🚣

The 2026 season brought unforgettable days on the river, incredible guests, big rapids, beautiful camps and plenty of memories we’ll be talking about for a long time.

And while we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to summer, we’re already looking ahead to 2027!

What a summer. ☀️🌊

From big rapids and quiet mornings to incredible camps, canyon views, and plenty of laughs along the way—this season on the Middle Fork gave us a lot to be thankful for.

But as always, it’s the people who make it special.

To every guest who joined us this summer, thank you for trusting Adventure Sun Valley with your adventure. We loved sharing the Middle Fork with you and creating memories we hope will stick around long after the river season ends.

Big splashes, fast water, and plenty of adrenaline as we make our way through one of the most legendary stretches of whitewater in the country.
