As auditions approach, don’t forget to submit your team application before Sunday so we can begin planning placements, choreography, and team organization ahead of time. We have put a tremendous amount of thought into this process to make it as smooth and positive as possible for both dancers and families.

Each year, the Shining Star Award is presented to just ONE recreational dancer in each genre (ages 6+) who consistently demonstrates hard work, kindness, dedication, a positive attitude, and outstanding growth throughout the season. These dancers are leaders in the classroom, role models to their peers, and true standouts in their genre.

Choosing our Shining Star recipients is never easy. Every dancer in our program brings something unique and special to Lucky Star, making these decisions incredibly difficult each year. We are so proud of all of our dancers and the joy, effort, and enthusiasm they bring to our studio. ♡

3 DAYS ⭐️
Over the last few weeks, I’ve talked to so many families who are considering auditions, and almost every conversation has sounded a little different.

Some are wondering if their dancer is ready.

Some are worried about whether they’ll make friends.

Some are trying to figure out how dance fits into their schedule alongside school, sports, and everything else.

Some are considering a studio change and aren’t sure if taking that step is worth it.

The truth is, those feelings are completely normal.

Most of our dancers didn’t walk through our doors already knowing anyone. Many attended their very first audition with us. Some came from other studios. Some were brand new to competition dance altogether.

They simply took a chance.

And that one decision led to friendships, confidence, growth, unforgettable memories, and opportunities they never expected.

What they found was a team that pushes them to grow, friendships that extend far beyond the studio, and a place where they can be challenged, supported, and celebrated.

That’s what we’re building at Lucky Star.

THE HEART OF LUCKY STAR❤️
At this year’s recital, we did something we’ve never done before.

We created an award specifically for one dancer.

Not because we planned to add another award to our program, but because throughout the season, one dancer consistently embodied everything Lucky Star stands for in a way that simply couldn’t go unrecognized.
When our staff reflected on the year, one name kept coming up again and again.

Lucia is the dancer who goes out of her way to welcome new students the moment they walk through our doors. The dancer who notices when someone is sitting alone and makes sure they feel included. The dancer who listens when staff members speak, treats everyone with respect, and leads by example both inside and outside the classroom.

She is kind. She is compassionate. She wears her heart on her sleeve.

She gives her all in everything she does and continues to push forward even when things become challenging. She shows up with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to make those around her feel valued.

Over the past four seasons, we have had the privilege of watching Lucia grow alongside Lucky Star. We’ve watched her become stronger, more confident, and more accomplished with each passing year. But through all of that growth, one thing has never changed:

Her heart.

The Heart of Lucky Star Award was created because we felt there should be a way to recognize the qualities that truly make a difference in a studio family - the qualities that can’t be measured by scores, trophies, or titles.

Lucia, thank you for being exactly who you are. Thank you for your kindness, your positivity, your compassion, and the example you set for every dancer around you.

4 DAYS🚨⭐️
ONLY 4 DAYS until we kick off Season 5 Competition Team auditions and I honestly can’t believe we’re already here - this is going to be a year you truly don’t want to miss. ♡

We already have 110+ routines in the works (and counting) and 2 production pieces - and this season is all about pushing creativity, growing our dancers, and raising the bar in every way while still holding onto what matters most: strong technique, real friendships, and a team that feels like home.

At Lucky Star, it’s never just about competition results. It’s about growth, confidence, discipline, teamwork, and building something together that actually means something. We work hard, we set goals, and we show up for each other - and the memories we make along the way matter just as much as what happens on stage.

If you’re looking for an activity for your child that builds confidence, friendships, and gives them a place to truly grow - you found it. 🥹⭐️

Ages 3–18. Low commitment levels available for first-year team members, younger dancers, or dancers balancing other activities to middle & high commitments for those who are ready for more!

EMMA GADSBY — Our 2026 Polaris 👑
At Lucky Star Dance Company, the Polaris Award honors a dancer who leads by example - through consistency, work ethic, kindness, and heart. A dancer who lifts others up, shows up for their team, and creates space for everyone around them to shine.
This award is presented each year by our previous recipient, symbolizing the passing of the torch and what true leadership looks like in our studio.

Emma’s journey is one of the most meaningful growth stories I have ever witnessed as a teacher.
When I first met her, she was eleven years old - so incredibly talented, but quiet and unsure of herself. She avoided dancing alone and never wanted the spotlight. You could see the potential was there, but so was the fear.

I remember constantly encouraging her to step outside her comfort zone. I pushed her, challenged her, and honestly at times had to really beg her to believe in herself enough to do her first solo - because I knew there was something inside her that deserved to be seen.

One of the most defining moments of my teaching career came at a dance convention.
In a room filled with hundreds of dancers, the instructor asked for volunteers to perform solo.

Her hand went straight up.

The same dancer who once refused to dance alone.
The same dancer who once doubted herself.
The same dancer who once hid from the spotlight.

And in that moment, I remember thinking - I’m not watching who she is anymore… I’m watching who she has become.

Since then, Emma has continued to grow into an incredible leader - on stage, in class, and within our community.

She shows up. Always.

For her teachers. For her teammates. And especially for the younger dancers coming up behind her.
Whether it was staying late to help clean choreography, stepping in when I needed support, or consistently choosing what was best for her team over what was easiest for herself - Emma has led through action, not words.

Not for recognition. Not for herself. For everyone else.
That is rare. And that is leadership.

Emma, thank you for your heart, your loyalty, and the example you set every single day. Watching your journey has been one of the greatest privileges of my career.

This fall, Sam will be attending Penn State University Park, where she plans to major in Acting and minor in Vocal Performance. ♡

Sam has been part of the Lucky Star family since the very beginning - Season 1, our very first chapter. From day one, she has brought a light into every room she enters. Throughout her journey with us, we’ve had the privilege of watching her step outside of her comfort zone, grow in confidence, form lifelong friendships, and accomplish goal after goal.

Sam is incredibly talented, kind-hearted, hardworking, and dedicated. Her passion for the performing arts shines in everything she does, and there is no doubt that she has an incredibly bright future ahead of her.

Sam, thank you for spending these years with us and for leaving such a lasting impact on our studio. We are so grateful for every memory, every performance, and every moment we’ve shared. We love you, we are so proud of you, and we can’t wait to continue cheering you on as you begin this exciting new chapter.
