A little work this morning to get an order of these glass bottles with 12 gauge brass tops out in the mail today. I started putting these together to showcase Turkey gizzard stones or "Turkey Jewels" as a mock shotgun shell. I started making these for my 2025 spring gobblers and adding another element to my displays. Enjoy.

This morning was another PA Spring Gobbler success and I'm tagged out. This gobbler sounded off and came to my Copper Slot call with only two responses. He is one of the biggest gobblers I've shot to date. This spring I've started harvesting the "Jewels" or gizzard stones. A reward for me is to harvest and process the bird using the call I made as well as the knife. Enjoy!

Switching gears this morning by starting this BBQ Fork and Serrated Knife set using plum wood for the handles. The serrated knife makes a handy sandwich roll knife as well as a meat slicer. With the spring in the air and BBQ season on its way gave me the inspiration to get these underway. Also will make a needed tool for the tasks associated with a successful spring gobbler season. I'll post some photos when finished as the tung oil will make the plum handles pop. Enjoy.

Celebrating 50 years of wild turkey hunting/conservation. The NWTF medallion, PA NWTF Lapel Pin, Nittany Valley Longbeards Chapter Paddle Call and the PA Game Commission Patch. Important milestones for local, state and national efforts and hopefully another 50 years.

The last couple of days I grabbed the bull by the horns so to speak and got these four Slotter Horn Turkey Calls made and now ready to ship out. I donated one of these to the PA NWTF Call Maker Classic and it sold at auction in the top ten percent of those offered for sale. These calls produce great sounding clucks, putts, purrs and yelps. Last year I harvested two gobblers using this call in PA. Message me if interested and for Valentine's Day, I'll show a little love by providing free shipping.

I've been procrastinating a bit on making this maple burl knife display stand using deer antler pieces. Ron Hough bought a maple burl handled knife a month ago and want a display stand. First coat of tung oil - most likely 2-3 more, then felt feet. Fun diversion project while epoxy is drying on other knives I've started.

Next in line in the workshop are these two - top 3” Trailing Point Skinner with Lilac handles, bottom 4” Drop Point with deer antler.

I finished this 3" Hunter with thumb grooves and perforations with deer antler handles. I've had more requests for deer antlered handled knives so I'm trying to have a few on stock, but they go fast. IM me if interested.

After lunch I was able to make some fine sawdust and get these knives to the stage of first coating with tung oil. A 3" Blade with thumb grooves and perforations using Cherry Stump Burl for handles. A 3" Blade with thumb grooves and perforations using Maple Burl for the handles. A 3.5" Drop Point with Cherry Burl. Another coat or two of tung oil and than a coat of wax will make these a wonderful gift or carry for yourself. Each comes with a leather sheath. IM if interested.

Some morning work to finish up these two antler handles knives. The 4" Trailing Point with thumb/finger hole is sold. The 3.5" Drop Point knife has a heavier handle with excellent balance and feels really good in the hand. Enjoy. Now this afternoon I'll get more work done on three wood handled knives.

I'm getting back to making some knives after a month or so from making some sawdust. A little inspired push by getting the first (of three) "Cross-Draw" leather knife sheaths and trying some of knives I already had made in it. The nice tooling is on both sides allows it to be used by righties and lefties (righties never understand the concept of everything is made for righties). I also started some knives that will use either the traditional vertical sheath or the Cross-Draw. The new knives range from 3"-4" and are (from top to bottom) Maple Burl, Cherry Stump Burl, Cherry Burl, and two antlers. Several folks have been wanting the deer antler handles. Christmas is on the horizon. I.M. with any questions or interest.
