Glendale's Brooklyn finished out her weekend in third place at her first recognized horse trials at Hunt Club Farm. She had a bold and confident cross country ride through a fairly twisty and busy track. We are super excited for her and how much she has grown these last few months!

Lilly’s first spin around on Gus. He was brilliant at reading his new rider and happily trotting her around some pole courses; all while being the babysitter for a very green young horse. This awesome four year old Connemara gelding is available to the public and can be tried in Somerset, Va.

Gus has been to local shows, over night shows and had many off the farm outings! We are very proud of him.

Lilly spent the day practicing her first dressage tests… and showing what she’s been working on to Bonnie for her first tests too. Lilly is used to riding medium and large ponies, so adjusting to a small but stocky horse has been quite a practice for her. We are really pleased with this four year old mare!

Lilly taking four year old Bonnie for a spin, working on straight lines from rail to rail and showing her how to find the middle of the jump. We like to warm up with our poles on the ground and to teach our horses about jumping from the beginning in this way.

Bonnie is available to the public and you can find out more about her here:

Cameron: “I don’t think we’re ready to put those ones together.”

*approximately five minutes later*

“I’m just going to string them together.”

We are super proud of Cameron and Bentley! They have put in so much work on their jumping this year and it’s really developed both of their confidence. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of it all!

Cameron Nystrom’s AQHA gelding, Arties Sportin, was a superstar completing his first ever starter horse trials at Hunt Club over the weekend. Bentley was a champ during busy warm ups and put in focused work any way. He felt super keen on cross country, which was unexpected and has us feeling excited for his next time out! We are very proud of him and how sure of himself he felt in all three phases!

Glendale’s Brooklyn had a confident and bold spin around her first unrecognized starter at Hunt Club over the weekend. The atmosphere was very inviting and the course rode super. A sleep deprived pilot error in show jump drove us right past jump 3, but Brooklyn wasn’t phased and jumped everything boldly.

She was born and raised by Deb Bossier Norman right around the corner from this facility in Berryville, Va and Deb got to come see her first event!

We are really pleased with her and can’t wait to get her out again!

Over the weekend we took the young guns to Farmington Hunt Club’s hunter pace and had the best experience for our horses!

Glendale’s Easter Bonnet, who is a 15.2 hand 2022 homebred of Deb Bossier Norman’s in Berryville, Virginia was steady, confident and incredibly comfortable. After starting her last summer, she went home for a 5 month winter holiday, and came back into work last month. Bonnie is available to the public and you can find out more about her here: https://www.whistlingridgeequestrian.com/glendaleseasterbonnet

Gracedale (Glamourdale x Rousseau) is a gorgeous homebred of David Ziegler who has a bright future in dressage. We started Lil this year and she just celebrated her third birthday. It is so important to us that these colts get a variety of experiences and learn how to carry their riders across a variety of terrain. While her future is competitive dressage, building a happy and healthy horse starts with a well rounded foundation. Lil was a rockstar for her first hunter pace, having to navigate a lot of terrain and cross many waterways and travel across the country with friends!

Our brave leader was Gunner, owned by Drake and Cecilia Bryant. Drake purchased Gunner this summer and has been hitting the trails! They were the perfect combination to bravely lead our young horses trough various terrain and across open fields — where even at a canter Gunner holds a lovely slower and rhythmic pace.

We can’t thank Farmington enough for offering such a lovely experience for our young horses!

Deb Norman’s, Glendale’s Augustine having his first little jump school and enjoying an easy trip off property. We started Gus under saddle last summer where he was thoughtfully produced to build confidence and gain easy miles under saddle, then head home for a winter holiday. He is back in action and beginning to learn how to jump under saddle. This fabulous four year old Connemara gelding is by Coud Poker Tartifume (Cooper) and is available to be tried in Somerset, Va.

Cameron is the type of owner every horse dreams of being lucky enough to have. Bentley has had his share of battles to overcome, and Cameron has hung in there for the long haul to do what she feels is right for her horse. We’ve battle chronic asthma in addition to, volatile behavioral issues and even had to remove an eye. It has been nearly a three year process thus far, but she has been able to take Bentley from an untrustworthy partner even in a confined space (how many times did we get reared, spun, bolted or bucked off with in the arena??), to a soft, happy, and willing partner in many different types of settings. It is a process to rebuild trust in our horses and we are eternally grateful to this pair for believing in our program. We have paired a committed owner with good foundational training, exceptional farrier and veterinary care, routine bodywork and a fitness program to rebuild this horse’s whole life. This pair is a true testimate to what that commitment looks like. It has been an honor to share my life with theirs and it brings me great joy to watch these two confidently ride outside, jumping jumps and bravely traveling terrain.
