RIP Yamada Sensei 😔🙏🏼🕊️
I have just gotten word that Yoshimitsu Yamada (8th dan, New York Aikikai) passed away today on January 15, 2023.
Born in 1938, Yamada started aikido at age 17 as uchideshi to Morihei Ueshiba at Aikikai Hombu Dojo. He first came to the United States in 1964 and moved to New York to take care of the New York Aikikai (which was founded in 1961). Yamada was president of the United States Aikido Federation, established in 1976.
My condolences go out to his family, friends, students, and loved ones.
Congratulations to Leo, Tonya and Sergey on their recent promotions and Happy Birthday to Ed Santos sensei.

We've had the priviledge to host Irv Sensei a few times in our 15 year existence. This is very sad news. RIP Irv Sensei.
It is with broken hearts that we share the news of our Sensei’s passing today. Irvin Faust Shihan was at home with his family when he passed on this morning. Sensei moved with power and grace through to the end, showing us all his true warrior spirit. He was a teacher, mentor, and father to so many. We send him and his family all of our love, gratitude, and deepest respect. Domo Arigato, Sensei. We love you.
