Most people never see this part of running an offshore charter boat.
Today was zinc replacement day on both Caterpillar engines aboard Distraction Charters.
Saltwater runs through marine engines to keep them cool, and these sacrificial zincs help protect expensive internal metal components from electrolysis and corrosion inside the cooling system.
The old one on the left did exactly what it was designed to do.
Preventive maintenance may not be glamorous, but it is one of the reasons we work hard to keep trips running safely, comfortably, and reliably during the busy summer season.
About $200 in maintenance today helps prevent much bigger problems later.
A lot happens behind the scenes before families ever step aboard a fishing charter.
Taking care of the boat is part of taking care of our guests.

Safe boating starts with one simple rule: the right life jacket for every person on board. 🦺🚤
Comfort, fit, and activity matter and so do the regulations. Make sure your gear is U.S. Coast Guard-approved, properly sized and always ready to use.
This National Safe Boating Week, make safety non-negotiable.

Spring Launch is in full effect, are you ready?
Happy Easter to all from Sam's Marine.
Hope everyone has a great holiday spent with family and friends.
Oldman winter is not going away without a fight.
Looks like we got a few days of some nasty weather ahead of us, but we will not let that slow us down.
Sunny days are coming and we will be ready for the season.
Please remember to let us know if you don't want your boat unwrapped.
We will start removing shrink wrap on Monday the 6th at the Marina and will follow up with boats in storage at the shop.
Spring is approaching, clocks are moving forward this weekend, and the snow and ice will be gone before we know it.
It's time to start planning ahead and get the boats out of there winter hibernation.
Just a friendly reminder to give us a call with your planned pick up date for storage boats. We will need time to unwrap and start them up for the season.
Hope everyone had a great winter season, we look forward to hearing from you all.
