Some of the most important work at St. Croix Ballet happens before the curtain goes up.
We are looking for a volunteer Costume Coordinator for The Stillwater Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty for 2026-2027 season. This is the person who keeps costumes organized, fittings on schedule, and every piece accounted for from the studio to the theater.
No sewing experience needed. We already have a seamstress.
If you have ever wondered how costuming actually works in live theater, this is a real look inside it. Fittings, wardrobe organization, load-in, dress rehearsal, running a show. It is hands-on experience with a full production, and a genuine starting point if you have ambitions of working at the Guthrie or another large theater someday.
What the role looks like:
✔️ Scheduling Saturday student fittings ahead of each production
✔️ Being at fittings to help dancers into costumes
✔️ Assigning sewing, cleaning, and steaming tasks to volunteer helpers
✔️ Keeping costumes organized and accounted for
✔️ Prepping costumes for transport and load-in
✔️ Being present for theater week, dress rehearsal, and most performances
The right person is organized, dependable, and comfortable around kids and families. An eye for detail goes a long way. So does a willingness to jump in.
If you love being behind the scenes, this is one of the best seats in the house.
